As a researcher in literary theory and criticism, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Thi Viet Trung is very interested in the contents of the draft Political Report to be presented at the Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term. She emphasized that literature and art play a particularly important role in ideological work, serving as a spiritual resource that contributes to improving cultural life, cultivating character, and spreading humanistic values in society.
This field also plays an active role in protecting and promoting national cultural identity, raising community awareness in preserving fine traditions and combating decadent and offensive cultural phenomena. Therefore, fully recognizing the role of literature and art, and proposing specific solutions for developing this field in the new period, is an issue that needs to be given due attention in the draft Political Report.
Associate Professor Tran Thi Viet Trung further shared: After carefully studying the draft Political Report to be presented at the Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term, I found that the assessment of the field of literature and art has been fully and accurately expressed, showing the province's concern for the team of artists and writers.
In the section on goals, tasks, and solutions for the coming period, I believe there needs to be more specific content related to the development orientation of literature and art, especially in the context of the province entering a period of strong transformation, accompanying the nation's aspiration for progress. There needs to be clearer guidance on the role and responsibilities of artists and writers in creating works of high ideological and artistic value, vividly reflecting the changing reality of the province after the merger.
Currently, the Thai Nguyen Provincial Association of Literature and Arts has over 300 members, operating in 11 specialized fields, including: Prose, Poetry, Folk Arts, Research and Criticism, Photography, Fine Arts, Music, Architecture, Theater, Dance and Film, Radio and Television.
Thai Nguyen province's cultural and artistic activities have achieved outstanding results, affirming its role and position in building the cultural and spiritual life of the homeland and the country. Creative workshops, photo and art exhibitions, and writing competitions are regularly organized, creating a vibrant creative movement among artists and writers, with works of art and literature continuously improving in quality.
However, according to the leaders of the Provincial Association of Literature and Arts, the institutionalization of the Party's guidelines and viewpoints through specific laws, policies, mechanisms, and resources for the development of culture, literature, and arts in the province has been slow in recent times. This has somewhat created limitations and affected the development of cultural and artistic life in the locality.
Regarding the goals and solutions for cultural and artistic development outlined in the draft Political Report, poet Nguyen Thuy Quynh, President of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Association of Literature and Arts, expressed: "Many policies and guidelines of the Party and State have been effectively implemented, creating favorable conditions for cultural development. We expect that the upcoming Provincial Party Congress document will closely adhere to these major orientations, especially the cultural development policy recently approved by the National Assembly. This is an important basis for perfecting the document in a way that clearly outlines the strategy, specifies the goals, and aligns with the reality of Thai Nguyen, thereby better promoting the role of artists and writers in local cultural development."
In the northern communes of Thai Nguyen province, the majority of artists and writers are people living in remote and isolated areas. They work in communes and schools in the highlands while simultaneously pursuing their passion for creative work in prose, poetry, fine arts, and photography. Therefore, they face many difficulties in their creative endeavors and artistic activities.
Representing artists from the northern region, artist Tran Giang Nam, from the Vietnam Fine Arts Association branch in Thai Nguyen province, proposed the need for stronger mechanisms to encourage social participation in the field of literature and art, especially in art creation and exhibitions. At the same time, a favorable environment should be created to promote works that reflect the unique cultural identity of Thai Nguyen, contributing to the dissemination of local cultural values.
Author Nguyen Van Loi, a member of the Thai Nguyen Association of Literature and Arts, currently residing in Bac Kan ward, expressed his thoughts and aspirations after studying the draft Political Report of the Congress: The draft Political Report has correctly and appropriately assessed the role of literature and art in ideological work.
Thai Nguyen is a locality with a talented team of artists and writers, comparable to major cultural centers nationwide; many documentary film directors from the province have made their mark internationally. We expect more mechanisms and policies to support creative and publishing activities, while also focusing on training a new generation of young artists to maintain and develop the province's artistic resources in the coming period.
Architect Nguyen Van Cuong, Chairman of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Architects Association, further shared: "Entering a new stage of development, as Thai Nguyen is increasingly becoming a highlight of the region, we hope that the Congress document will more clearly address specific targets and orientations for the field of architecture. At the same time, there needs to be a mechanism to promote the role of artists and writers in general so that we have more opportunities to contribute to the overall development of the province."
In the near future, the Thai Nguyen Provincial Association of Literature and Arts will hold its Congress for the 2025-2030 term. This is an opportunity to review the achievements of the past term, affirm the role of literature and art, and propose specific solutions and policies to develop this field in the new period.
Adhering closely to the major directions outlined in the Provincial Party Congress documents will be an important foundation and driving force for Thai Nguyen's artists and writers to actively participate in the local political, economic, and social life, contributing to the development of a rich and distinctive national culture.
