During the meeting of the 31st Mai Vàng Awards Arts Council - 2025, many proposals were put forward, discussed, and agreed upon by the members.

Accordingly, the members of the Art Council (AC) agreed to evaluate and select worthy nominees in 16 categories of the 31st Golden Apricot Awards - 2025. In addition, the AC also agreed to propose additional outstanding candidates with outstanding achievements in the past year.

Speaking at the meeting, journalist and PhD holder To Dinh Tuan, Editor-in-Chief of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, Head of the Steering Committee, and Chairman of the Judging Panel for the 31st Mai Vang Awards in 2025, emphasized that 31 years is a long journey. From that foundation, the award has developed day by day, reaching a larger scale in its 31st year. "This year, we have proposed recognizing the Mai Vang Awards as a national award, thereby making them eligible to be considered for the titles of People's Artist and Meritorious Artist for artists who have made outstanding contributions to the cultural and artistic life of the country," journalist To Dinh Tuan informed.

According to Mr. To Dinh Tuan, the 30 Mai Vang Awards have witnessed the growth of many artists, positively impacting Vietnam's entertainment and arts market and contributing to the development of the cultural industry in Ho Chi Minh City and the entire country. "It can be affirmed that the Mai Vang Awards are indispensable in the artistic journey of artists nationwide. Therefore, the Mai Vang Awards Jury meeting is especially important to identify the best artists and works of the year in order to honor them appropriately," Mr. To Dinh Tuan emphasized.

Therefore, "the contribution of the Mai Vang Award Judging Panel is a way to find the most deserving works and artists to honor at the 31st Mai Vang Award Ceremony - 2025, taking place on January 29, 2026 at the City Theater," Mr. To Dinh Tuan added.

Agreeing with this viewpoint, musician Vo Thien Thanh (a member of the Judging Panel for the 31st Mai Vang Awards - 2025) affirmed that, based on audience nominations and public affection for artistic works or artists, the Judging Panel will take another step to refine the artistic and aesthetic aspects of music to select candidates who possess all the necessary elements in terms of both professional expertise and entertainment value.

As in previous years, the Organizing Committee established four subcommittees: Theater; Music; Film - Television - Programs; and the "Outstanding Arts and Culture" award. Members of the Judging Panel in each subcommittee received nominations from readers in advance for each category and discussed them as a basis for reference at the official Judging Panel meeting. As a result, the names selected for the nomination round demonstrated the absolute consensus of the Judging Panel members and received very fair and impartial evaluations.

The meeting of the Board of Directors was lively with many proposals put forward by members and reaching consensus.

MC Quynh Hoa commented that 2025 was a year with many outstanding events. The Mai Vang Award prioritizes the votes of readers and viewers, so the judging panel's selection was also based on their votes. With the outstanding cases of the past year, the Organizing Committee also considered ensuring that "no outstanding case in the cultural and artistic life of the country was overlooked."

People's Artist Tran Minh Ngoc emphasized that the meeting of the Board of Directors to review the nomination list is a responsible one and the Mai Vang Award has been doing this for many years, so that when it is announced, there will be no mistakes and nothing unfortunate will happen to all the nominations.

In fact, readers and viewers will vote again in the final round and have the full right to decide which individuals and works will be honored at the awards ceremony. The final result aims to balance audience opinions and professional opinions, harmonizing public acceptance with recognition from reputable experts. People's Artist Viet Anh also believes that, in addition to public nominations, the judging panel's proposal through voting will help the Mai Vang Awards maintain its prestige and brand as a key element of the cultural industry in Ho Chi Minh City.

"We will compile the meeting results, report to the Editorial Board to reach a consensus, and announce the candidates in the voting round. We will consider and discuss the suggestions from the members of the Judging Panel and develop appropriate approaches to contribute to raising the national level of the Mai Vang Awards starting from 2025. Thus, after the meeting, the results remained the same in 16 categories. The voting round will take place from December 10, 2025 to January 22, 2026. The award ceremony is scheduled to be held on the night of January 29, 2026 at the City Theater (HCMC) and broadcast live on VTV9 channel.
