The impact of multidimensional poverty reduction in Thanh Cong commune.

From a commune with a high rate of poor and near-poor households in the province, Thanh Cong has today made remarkable progress. Infrastructure has been invested in comprehensively, and more and more spacious houses are being built for people in the hamlets. This achievement is thanks to the strong involvement of the entire political system and the effectiveness of the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction with appropriate livelihood projects.

The Van Phu Tea Cooperative contributes to creating sustainable livelihoods for many households.

After many years of being classified as a poor or near-poor household, this year, following a review and assessment based on multidimensional poverty criteria, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nu's family has escaped poverty. This achievement is partly due to the cattle breeding support project that her family participated in.

To create suitable livelihoods and achieve sustainable poverty reduction for the people, in 2023, using funds from the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction, Thanh Cong commune implemented a project to raise breeding cows, supporting 13 poor households and 15 near-poor households with a total budget of 537,000 VND. After one year of implementation, the model yielded positive results, contributing to sustainable poverty reduction in the locality.

Building on the success of the model, in 2024 the commune continued to implement the project with funding support for 38 poor and near-poor households. Like Mrs. Nu's family, many households that received breeding cows have been able to improve their lives.

The Van Phu Tea Cooperative links production, creating jobs and providing regular income for many households.

The National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction not only provides resources but also inspires a spirit of self-reliance and innovation in each citizen. With support from the Program, the commune has developed many agricultural production models linked to poverty reduction. These models are selected based on the potential, strengths, and needs of the people.

Van Phu hamlet is home to the majority of the San Diu ethnic minority, and the changes are clearly visible in the well-built houses, clean and modern village roads and alleys. Recognizing the hamlet's advantage in tea cultivation, the Van Phu Tea Cooperative was established in 2024, attracting 23 members and more than 20 affiliated households, applying scientific and technical methods to tea cultivation according to VietGAP standards.

As a result, productivity has increased, and dried tea products are sold at prices ranging from 350,000 to 450,000 VND/kg. Mr. Le Van Loi, Head of the hamlet and also Director of Van Phu Tea Cooperative, affirmed: "We are planning to develop tea products that meet OCOP standards by 2026."

At the same time, in Van Phu hamlet, the majority of the population are San Diu ethnic people, who still preserve their traditional ethnic culture. We plan to leverage this strength to link tea cultivation with community tourism models to increase income for the people.

The national target program for sustainable poverty reduction has contributed to changing the appearance and lives of people in Thanh Cong.

Implementing the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the period 2021-2025, Thanh Cong commune has focused on reviewing poor and near-poor households, identifying the causes, and developing specific support plans for each.

In 2025, the commune allocated over 1,723 million VND to implement projects, including over 700 million VND for livelihood diversification models. The allocated funds were targeted and targeted correctly, creating motivation for people to improve their lives. With the decisive leadership of the government and the efforts of the people, by the end of 2025, Thanh Cong commune had reduced the poverty rate to 1.71%; and the near-poverty rate to 4.01%.
