The project, scheduled for implementation in 2025, aims to establish a specialized H'Mông chicken farming area, standardize breeding processes, and promote product consumption linkages. Within the framework of the project, 8,000 H'Mông chickens will be provided to local farmers with support in terms of breeding stock, supplies, and technical assistance. Farmers will also receive training on biosecurity, waste management, and care and disease prevention procedures. The project has also developed a model of linkage with cooperatives to guarantee product sales, creating a stable market for farmers.
At the conference, delegates heard reports on technical and economic results, product development orientations along the value chain and OCOP (One Commune One Product) program. Many opinions suggested that H'Mong chicken has the potential to become a regional specialty product, suitable for ecotourism and culinary purposes. The chickens have a high survival rate of over 95%, reaching an average weight of over 1.6kg after 16 weeks of age, consuming 3.1kg of feed.
The application of biosafety practices in commercial H'Mông chicken farming has contributed to improved technical efficiency and productivity, reduced production costs through savings in feed and veterinary medicine, and increased stability and sustainability in farming. The model achieves higher economic efficiency compared to mass farming, has the potential for replication, and makes a positive contribution to the goal of developing sustainable, specialty agriculture in the northern mountainous provinces.
