Teaching English electively for grades 1 and 2 on a voluntary basis

On August 18, the Department of Education and Training of Khanh Hoa province issued a document guiding the organization of teaching elective English subjects for grades 1 and 2 according to the general education program from the 2025-2026 school year.

The elective English program for grades 1 and 2 is designed and allocated with a duration of 70 lessons per grade, equivalent to 2 lessons/week/class. The Department of Education and Training requires the cultural and social departments at the commune level to review the situation of organizing English familiarization for grades 1 and 2 in the area, thereby advising competent authorities to invest in facilities and teaching staff to ensure teaching conditions. Schools organize teaching on the basis of students' voluntary participation and with the consent of parents; have solutions and plans to organize appropriate educational activities for students who do not register to study this subject. Schools can arrange for English teachers to teach inter-school in the commune or ward to ensure the number of working hours of teachers, contributing to reducing the cost of paying for additional teaching hours, and at the same time avoiding the situation where English teachers take on jobs that are not in their specialized training, causing waste.
