Mergers expand space.

After 15 years since its establishment, Phu Thinh has undergone many changes. Now, the town has met all 5 criteria and is classified as a type V urban area. Infrastructure has been invested in, and the lives of the people have also improved.

Phu Thinh is increasingly becoming a well-planned town with a modern urban structure. The quality of urban classification criteria has improved, and the infrastructure and transportation framework have been shaped to create a connected and integrated transportation network.

Per capita income has also increased fourfold compared to 2009. The town 's economic strength has also improved significantly, with 7 enterprises and 433 individual business households. Notably, the town has also developed the Hill 30 Industrial Cluster, attracting numerous businesses to invest.

According to Huynh Xuan Chinh, Chairman of the Phu Ninh District People's Committee, the role of the district's central urban area has been enhanced, so the plan is to merge Tam Vinh commune into Phu Thinh commune, forming an expanded Phu Thinh town. This will bring advantages as the two localities share similar histories and cultural and historical elements.

Mr. Chinh argued that the merger would facilitate the management of administrative boundaries, stabilize infrastructure and cultural institutions, and improve transportation for the people.

Specifically, upon merger, the new town will have a total natural area of ​​20.32 km² and a population of 11,029 people, meeting the criteria stipulated in Resolution No. 1211 of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly .

This merger offers fundamental advantages due to the shared history of the two localities, both formerly Tam Vinh communes, and their similar cultural and historical elements. The merger will facilitate administrative boundary management, stabilize infrastructure and cultural institutions, and improve transportation for residents.

"The merger will have socio-economic impacts, creating resources, expanding development space, unleashing the potential and advantages of localities, and improving people's lives."

"We also have the conditions to review and implement a comprehensive plan for transportation infrastructure, medical facilities, education , etc., to facilitate people's travel, economic development, trade, gradually improve the quality of service to the people and ensure social security," Mr. Chinh said.

Towards a multi-functional city

Former Chairman of the People's Committee of Tam Vinh commune, Truong Van Tri, shared that from its initial name, Thanh Minh commune (in 1946), over 80 years, the administrative boundaries and name of Tam Vinh - Phu Thinh have been adjusted seven times. However, each time the people supported and agreed with the changes because they were appropriate for each historical period to promote socio-economic development.

The main concern of the people is how to develop in a way that avoids the situation of "a garment that is too big for the wearer but still outdated."

“When expanding the administrative boundaries and space of the town, this urban area must also develop proportionally with comprehensive infrastructure, and essential criteria for the quality of life for urban residents must be met. We are ready to work together in the journey of changing the appearance and stature of the new, expanded Phu Thinh town,” Mr. Tri said.

To further improve the criteria for a Type V urban area and aim to achieve some criteria for a Type IV urban area, recognizing the importance of urban renovation and infrastructure development, the People's Committee of Phu Ninh District has prepared a proposal for the development of this urban area.

Simultaneously, research is being conducted to implement the general urban development plan for Phu Thinh and its surrounding areas, expanding the area from 648 hectares to 713 hectares. Furthermore, Phu Thinh receives an annual investment of 30 billion VND, focusing resources on urban development during the 2020-2025 period.

The identity of Phu Thinh after expansion will be defined as a town with integrated functions, harmonizing the existing Phu Thinh area with the renovation and upgrading that connects and integrates with the current Tam Vinh area.

"Strongly develop regional linkages, organize, reorganize, and create new urban residential areas, ensuring housing and social infrastructure for urban residents."

"Ensuring a uniform quality of life across urban areas and communities, and creating modern, green, and climate-resilient urban living spaces," said Huynh Xuan Chinh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Ninh District.
