As the Lunar New Year of the Snake 2025 approaches, shopping malls, supermarkets, convenience stores, and traditional markets are overflowing with goods ranging from high-end to budget-friendly. Notably, Vietnamese products are dominating the market due to their diverse designs and good quality.
For about two months now, supermarkets, convenience store chains, and traditional markets throughout the province have been displaying a wide variety of goods to meet people's shopping needs during the year-end season.
According to the head of the Department of Industry and Trade, the quantity of goods in reserve this year has increased by 10-30% compared to last year, adequately meeting the shopping needs of the people during Tet. Businesses in the area have proactively stockpiled goods, especially essential items such as food and consumer goods, ensuring quality and origin. OCOP products and typical rural industrial products of the province are also given priority in display and sale in separate areas in supermarkets to support and promote the local economy .

To ensure Vietnamese goods dominate the Tet market, the Provincial People's Committee has directed relevant agencies to focus on implementing measures to stabilize the market, combat smuggling, trade fraud, and counterfeit goods. Strict action will be taken against violations related to hoarding, smuggling, goods of unknown origin, counterfeit goods, and substandard goods.
Vigorously implement trade promotion activities, the "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" campaign, and the program to bring Vietnamese goods to rural areas and industrial zones and clusters, combined with trade fairs, promotions, discounts, and consumer demand stimulation programs.
Businesses should be encouraged to bring their goods to rural areas for sale, ensuring timely and sufficient supply for consumers in these regions at reasonable prices and with guaranteed quality.
Through surveys conducted at supermarkets, convenience stores, and traditional markets throughout the province, it was found that most essential goods for the Tet holiday, such as confectionery, alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, and food, are primarily Vietnamese products. Notably, this year's goods feature a wider variety of designs and styles, with prices suitable for consumers' budgets.
Mr. Nguyen Ba Quyen, Director of the Tata Mart supermarket chain, said: "Since mid-November 2024, the company has imported essential goods and gift baskets to serve the consumer needs of people during the 2025 Lunar New Year. Over 90% of the goods in the entire supermarket system are Vietnamese products. Especially during this period, the supermarket also imports OCOP products from various localities to introduce to customers and promote characteristic products of the region."
To better serve customers, the supermarket has added more staff to assist with sales. In addition, it has expanded its business methods and payment options, including home delivery, to make things more convenient for customers and eliminate long waits at checkout during peak shopping hours.
At GO! Supermarket in Vinh Phuc, to ensure a sufficient supply of goods for consumers during the year-end period, the store signed contracts with domestic suppliers early on, committing to maintaining the prices as agreed in the contracts. Therefore, the supermarket always has an abundant supply, capable of increasing its output by 150% compared to normal days, and is committed to not raising prices during this period.
In addition, the supermarket is implementing many attractive promotional programs to stimulate shopping demand, such as discounts of up to 22% on Tet gift boxes/baskets; and applying a program of not increasing prices during Tet for more than 10,000 fast-moving consumer goods...
The promotional programs at the supermarket mostly feature Vietnamese products that the company has invested in meticulously, not only creating variety for the most vibrant shopping season of the year, but also contributing to connecting the community and traditional values to promote the motto "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods".
In traditional markets in the area, Vietnamese goods also dominate because their designs and quality are not much inferior to foreign goods, but the prices are more affordable.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh from Tich Son ward (Vinh Yen) said: "In recent years, the consumption of high-end domestically produced confectionery has dominated over imported confectionery because the quality is comparable and the price is only half that of foreign goods. Therefore, I and many other consumers prioritize choosing Vietnamese products this Tet holiday."
