Phuong Anh (a student from Nguyen Khe Secondary School) assessed this year's English exam as quite difficult and highly selective. Although she is generally a good student, she still took a considerable amount of time to complete this exam. In previous mock exams, Phuong Anh usually scored 9.5 points, but this time she was only confident of getting between 8.5 and 8.75 points.
Sharing the same sentiment, Tue Anh (a student from Hanoi Star School) assessed the English exam as difficult and quite easy to trick if one didn't read the questions carefully. Some of the fill-in-the-blank questions were the most challenging for students. It took her about 40 minutes to complete the exam, whereas normally it only takes 30 minutes.
The entrance exam for 10th grade in Hanoi's public schools is taking place over three days, May 30th - June 1st. Today, candidates completed the Literature and English exams. On the morning of May 31st, candidates will continue with the Mathematics exam. Candidates applying to specialized schools will take their specialized subject exam on the morning of June 1st.
This year, Hanoi has approximately 147,000 junior high school graduates, of which more than 124,000 registered to take the entrance exam for public high schools – a record high in the last 10 years. With an enrollment quota of about 82,600, the percentage of students securing a place is over 56% of the graduating class.
Admission score = Math score + Literature score + Foreign language score + Priority points (if any) + Encouragement points (if any).
