Yuan Hua recounted that he, Jackie Chan, and Sammo Hung grew up together since childhood, sharing a close bond and understanding each other's preferences and personalities very well. When asked if Jackie Chan was as stingy as rumored, the actor candidly shared, "From my perspective, he is stingy." He then burst into laughter and further explained that when Jackie Chan was a child, he would hide any food he had, only sharing it with everyone when it was nearly expired or about to spoil.

In contrast, Sammo Hung was extremely generous, often proactively inviting everyone to eat and drink together, and had a rather liberal working style. Yuen Wah admitted that Sammo Hung was the fellow disciple he admired and respected the most.

The two met on the set of Shaw Brothers; that year, Evina came to the set with her mother to visit the crew, and Yuan Hua fell in love with her at first sight. She revealed that Yuan Hua would transfer his entire salary to her for management, keeping only a small amount of cash on hand. Later, due to their children's education, Evina moved their two children to Vancouver, and Yuan Hua spent a long time traveling back and forth between Hong Kong and Canada.
