The English exam for admission to 10th grade in Phu Tho 'shows differentiation'.

GD&TĐ - On the afternoon of June 1st, candidates participating in the entrance exam for 10th grade in the 2026-2027 school year in Phu Tho completed the English exam.

According to teachers' assessments, this year's English exam closely followed the sample exam structure provided by the Phu Tho Department of Education and Training, demonstrating stability, alignment with the 2018 general education curriculum, and ensuring the ability to differentiate between candidates.

Commenting on the exam, the group of 9th-grade foreign language teachers at Vinh Yen Secondary School (Vinh Phuc ward) said that the exam was structured according to the guidelines announced in the sample exam by the Department of Education and Training. The exam structure was familiar and stable in format, helping students not to be surprised when taking the test.

According to teachers, the exam was at an appropriate level for the average 9th-grade student, while still ensuring reasonable differentiation. Questions at the knowledge and comprehension levels helped assess students' foundational knowledge, while application and higher-level application questions allowed for the classification of abilities, serving the college admissions process.

One notable point is that the materials used in the test are novel and relevant to real-life situations, contributing to the assessment of English language proficiency rather than simply testing the ability to memorize knowledge.

Ms. Ha Thi Thanh Xuan, an English teacher at Van Lung Secondary School (Au Co Ward), commented that the exam closely followed the structure of the sample exam previously published by the Phu Tho Department of Education and Training. During the review process, students were thoroughly guided by teachers on the types of questions that appeared in the exam, such as pronunciation of s/es and ed endings, conditional sentences, wish sentences, articles, prepositions, and other key grammar topics.

According to Ms. Xuan, the exam showed a relatively clear differentiation in difficulty levels. Questions on vocabulary and word types in the multiple-choice section, as well as some questions in the reading comprehension section, required students to have a fairly good vocabulary and the ability to use language flexibly in order to achieve high scores. Candidates with good reading comprehension skills and a solid grasp of vocabulary and grammar will have an advantage in aiming for scores of 9-10.

"The exam aims to comprehensively assess language proficiency in accordance with the requirements of the 2018 General Education Program, instead of just testing individual areas of knowledge or rote memorization as before," Ms. Xuan shared.

From a professional perspective, Ms. Xuan predicts that the score range for this year's candidates will likely be concentrated in the 6-7 point range. Compared to the preparation process, the exam questions are considered relatively easy to approach, creating conditions for students to demonstrate their abilities and complete the exam with confidence.

After the exam ended, the English teaching team of Lap Thach Secondary School (Lap Thach commune, Phu Tho province) provided the suggested answers for the four exam versions for candidates and parents to refer to, specifically:
