The producers of the TV series "Walking Amidst the Brilliant Sky" have announced that the series will end at episode 58 and will have a second season. Previously, there were many reports suggesting the series would extend to over 100 episodes. The producers are also calling on writers who love the series to submit script outlines for a second season to collaborate on the new production.
Currently, the series has aired 54 episodes. In the latest developments, the relationship between Pu (Thu Hà Ceri) and Chải (Long Vũ) is progressing well. Meanwhile, Thái (Vương Anh Ole) decides to return to England to study abroad as his mother wishes, but he will study his favorite major. Quang (Võ Hoài Vũ) will take over managing Thái's cafe.
Recently, "Walking Amidst the Brilliant Sky" has received mixed reviews from viewers. Compared to its initial success, which captivated audiences with its portrayal of the authentic daily life of the Red Dao ethnic group in the highlands and the adorable puppy love story of the main couple, Pu and Chải, the series has gradually lost interest and even drawn criticism for its overly monotonous plot as it shifts to the city where Pu attends university and meets new friends.
In recent episodes, after spending a long time studying in Hanoi and becoming close to Thai, the character Pu unexpectedly undergoes a plot twist, developing feelings for Chai. This shift has not only failed to gain audience support but has also left many feeling confused. On online forums, most opinions criticize the series, arguing that the scriptwriters are trying to manipulate the story to meet audience expectations. Initially, Pu looked down on Chai's feelings and support, always showing annoyance towards him. However, recently, she has changed her attitude, even changing her way of addressing him, leaving viewers feeling bewildered.
It's noteworthy that Pu's transformation isn't accompanied by any compelling plot points that would allow viewers to better understand why she gradually develops feelings for Chải.
The series also drew criticism from viewers for its clumsy and blatant overuse of advertising. Some products, such as fish sauce and packaged foods, were promoted overtly through close-up shots and character dialogue. For example, in episode 46, Pu clearly read out the name of a type of fish sauce to the saleswoman, and was later praised by another saleswoman for choosing that particular brand.
Furthermore, another reason why "Walking Amidst the Brilliant Sky" alienated audiences was the acting of Thu Ha Ceri and Vuong Anh Ole. Some viewers commented that Thu Ha Ceri often widened her eyes, made a haughty face, and displayed an unfriendly attitude in the film. As for Vuong Anh Ole, many viewers felt that the actor's facial expressions and dialogue lacked naturalness.
