For children under 14 years old, one of the following documents must be presented:

Flight tickets and passport

Birth certificate, original or certified copy.

Birth certificate: For cases under 1 month old who do not yet have a birth certificate.

A certificate from a social organization confirming that the child is being cared for by that organization.

For passengers aged 12 to under 14 without a passport, or passengers under 12, one of the following requirements must be met:

Accompanied by a legal representative; accompanied by the passenger who is checking in for the flight and accompanying them throughout the journey, as registered with the airline when purchasing the ticket.

There is a commitment from the representative of the original airline carrier to take care of passengers until they reach their final destination.

What do you need for international flights?

International flights are flights from one country to another, such as from Vietnam to another country or vice versa. For these flights, passengers will need to bring:

Airline tickets (paper tickets or e-tickets).

Cash for airport taxes: Some airports charge additional fees, which are usually in the local currency. Therefore, you should prepare cash in advance to avoid having to exchange money at the airport.

Passport: A passport serves as an international identity card.

Visa (entry visa): Depending on the country, you may or may not need a visa. Additionally, if your flight includes a layover in another country's airport, you will also need a transit visa in addition to your visa for that country.

Currently, several countries grant visa-free entry to Vietnamese citizens, including Thailand, Singapore, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Myanmar. Conversely, Vietnam grants visa-free entry to several other countries: Singapore, Thailand, Myanmar, South Korea, Japan, Denmark, Finland, and Sweden.

Each country has its own regulations regarding immigration procedures. Therefore, before traveling abroad, you need to thoroughly research the immigration regulations of that country to bring the appropriate documents.

For children without their own passports, their full name, date of birth, and photograph must be recorded and affixed to the passport of their legal representative, including: biological father, biological mother, adoptive father, adoptive mother, or guardian.

What conditions must these documents meet?

The documents you need to bring with you when traveling by plane must meet the following conditions:

Still valid according to the expiration date stated on the document.

For identity cards/citizen identification cards, they are valid for 15 years from the date of issuance (Government Decree No. 05/1999/ND-CP dated February 3, 1999 on identity cards, amended and supplemented by Government Decree No. 170/2007/ND-CP dated November 19, 2007).

For identity certificates certified by the police station of the ward or commune of residence, they are valid for 30 days from the date of certification (based on the time for reissuing identity cards as stipulated in Circular No. 04/1999/TT-BCA(C13) dated April 29, 1999 of the Ministry of Public Security guiding some provisions of Decree No. 05/1999/ND-CP dated February 3, 1999 of the Government on identity cards).

Travel documents must have a photograph with an official seal. This excludes documents such as birth certificates, children's birth registration certificates, security clearance cards, and airline identification cards.

What documents do elderly people and pregnant women need?

For elderly passengers and pregnant women, in addition to necessary documents for domestic and international flights such as airline tickets, ID cards/citizen identification cards, visas, etc., they also need to bring a liability waiver and a health certificate confirming they meet air travel safety standards.

What documents do foreigners need to prepare for domestic travel within Vietnam?
