“Heritage for life” - a place to honor the value of craft villages

Ninh Binh craft village space is recreated at Dong Gung bus station, Ninh Hai commune, Hoa Lu city.

After the success of annual cultural events and a series of typical traditional festivals such as: Bai Dinh Pagoda Festival, Hoa Lu Festival, Trang An Festival, Thai Vi Temple Festival..., the tourism industry continues to develop a plan to organize a series of activities in response to Ninh Binh Tourism Week 2025. One of the opening activities is the program "Heritage for Life" with many new and attractive experiences.

Accordingly, the program will take place from May 2-4, 2025 at Dong Gung Bus Station, Tam Coc-Bich Dong Tourist Area. Coming to the program, visitors and people will be immersed in many unique experiences such as: visiting the space displaying and selling craft village products and enjoying tea; enjoying the fashion art program "Heritage for Life"; bicycle parade and craft village products.

The special highlight is the fashion art program that will take place on the evening of May 2 with the appearance of many famous singers, people's artists, prestigious meritorious artists such as: People's Artist Thanh Lam, People's Artist Thai Bao, People's Artist Phuong Thao, Rocker Pham Anh Khoa... along with hundreds of dancers, models, and beauty queens.

The program is not only a special concert but also promises to bring a unique and novel craft village art space with fashion shows from famous designers across the country combined with artisans of embroidery, pottery, and sedge weaving in Ninh Binh.

According to the representative of Tam Coc-Bich Dong Tourist Area, the Craft Village space is arranged on an area of ​​3,500m2 at Dong Gung Bus Station. Up to now, the wooden houses have been completed, many artisans have transported their products here for display and performance.

The space is decorated with 300 graphic paintings about Ninh Binh, nearly 1,000 glass bulbs woven by artisans like lanterns to create magical light. The outside is decorated with mulberry fields and flowers, making the space more lively.

Mr. Do Van Tan, Hamlet 2, Kim Chinh Commune, Kim Son District said: I am very happy to bring the sedge craft of our ancestors to tourists. In addition to products such as bags, plates, baskets, and sedge hats, this year I also bring sedge hats and sedge fans. These are the items that will be decorated, sold, and used in the fashion show. We also set up an experience area so that visitors have the opportunity to learn about the unique value of Kim Son sedge craft.

As for the talented artisan, Designer Lan Huong shared: As soon as I received the invitation to participate in the program, I was extremely excited and full of design ideas. I spent time learning about the history of Van Lam embroidery village and met the artisans here to listen and feel more clearly the talented writing style left by our ancestors.

Coming to the program, I launched a collection called “The Quintessence Flow” depicting beautiful pictures of the Ninh Binh countryside with the image of hard-working, peaceful and happy farmers. The collection combines the quintessence of Van Lam lace technique and hand embroidery techniques of the next generation.

Comrade Bui Van Manh, Director of the Department of Tourism, said: Right from the beginning of the year, the tourism industry has proactively oriented and implemented the construction and innovation of many unique tourism products, creating a four-season experience for tourists.

The program “Heritage for Life” is organized to honor, preserve and promote the value of traditional craft villages in Ninh Binh province such as Van Lam embroidery, Kim Son sedge weaving, Bo Bat pottery...; is a place for exchange and connection between artisans and the public, creating motivation to continue traditional crafts. At the same time, promote the image of Ninh Binh as a destination rich in identity, friendly and attractive to domestic and foreign tourists.

“This is the opening event for a series of events in response to Ninh Binh Tourism Week. We hope to bring visitors memorable experiences about the nature, culture and people of the ancient capital. At the same time, it affirms Ninh Binh's efforts in preserving, promoting and sustainably exploiting heritage values ​​to develop cultural industries in the province,” the Director of the Department of Tourism added.

In order for the program to be carried out thoughtfully and effectively, the Department of Tourism has issued a plan, assigned specific tasks to each department and professional unit; at the same time, coordinated with Hoa Lu University and Tam Coc-Bich Dong Tourist Area to carry out related tasks to ensure practical, effective, safe and economical organization, contributing positively to the development of tourism as well as Ninh Binh culture.

During the April 30 and May 1 holidays, many tourist areas and spots also renewed their products to attract tourists such as: Thung Nham Eco-tourism Area opened a symbolic decor cluster with a model of Vietnam map made of traditional conical hats symbolizing the solidarity of 54 ethnic groups; the art program "Dyeing the color of memories" at Hoa Lu Ancient Town with the participation of singers Ung Hoang Phuc, Akira Phan, Duc Phuc...

The harmonious combination of majestic natural scenery, unique traditional culture and flexible, creative products has contributed to making Ninh Binh a destination for green, sustainable and hospitable tourism. In the first 4 months of 2025, Ninh Binh welcomed nearly 5.61 million visitors, an increase of 13.63% over the same period last year. Tourism revenue is estimated at nearly 6,057 billion VND, an increase of 31.02%.

This result not only shows the attractiveness of Ninh Binh destination but also contributes to realizing the goal of welcoming over 9.1 million visitors and earning over VND 10,000 billion in revenue that the industry set in 2025.
