African swine fever is under good control.

(QBĐT) - Information from the Provincial Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine indicates that African Swine Fever (ASF) has appeared in two communes, Thuong Hoa and Tan Thanh (Minh Hoa district). However, the disease is being well controlled and has not spread to other localities.

 

Accordingly, African Swine Fever (ASF) first appeared in Thuong Hoa commune on May 15, 2025, and in Tan Thanh commune from May 28, 2025. In these two communes, the disease occurred in 24 households/7 villages, resulting in the forced culling of 93 pigs weighing 5,216 kg.

Authorities are destroying pigs infected with African swine fever.

According to Tran Cong Tam, head of the Provincial Department of Livestock and Veterinary Medicine: Immediately after the outbreak occurred in Thuong Hoa and Tan Thanh communes, the unit coordinated with the local authorities to inspect and guide people in promptly implementing disease control measures; at the same time, they reported to veterinary officers when they detected pigs suspected of being infected so that they could be dealt with promptly; and they propagated and encouraged people not to buy, sell, slaughter dead or diseased pigs, or dispose of pig carcasses into the environment to prevent the spread of the disease…

 

To proactively prevent, control, and manage African Swine Fever (ASF) effectively and promptly, and to minimize losses for pig farmers, in the coming period, relevant agencies and local authorities need to continue to focus on implementing decisive and comprehensive solutions to control and prevent ASF in accordance with regulations; organize inspections and monitoring of disease prevention and control work, and prevent the disease from spreading widely.
