A representative from a university in Ho Chi Minh City's admissions office stated that the number of applicants registering through the Ministry of Education and Training 's online admissions system has increased significantly compared to previous years. However, this data is still insufficient to confirm whether the number of admitted students has increased or decreased compared to last year.
The cut-off scores for teacher training programs will increase slightly.
Although specific figures for each group of majors are not yet available, many experts believe that the teacher training group of majors will be highly competitive, and the admission scores may increase slightly.
To date, Saigon University (Ho Chi Minh City) and the Diplomatic Academy (Hanoi) are the two universities with the highest minimum admission scores in the country. Specifically, the geography and history education majors at Saigon University lead with a minimum score of 25 points.
This year, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education is setting the minimum admission score based on the high school graduation exam results, ranging from 18 to 24 points. Six majors have the highest minimum admission scores: mathematics education, chemistry education, literature education, history education, geography education, and English education.
In the health sciences sector, the Ministry of Education and Training has set a common minimum admission score for all majors (highest being 20.5). However, many top universities still have their own higher admission requirements.
Dr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Vice Rector of Hanoi University, stated that the distribution of scores in the 2025 high school graduation exam shows that the results for the D01 combination (mathematics, literature, English) - the combination used for admission to all regular undergraduate programs at the university - are lower than the previous year. The university's training programs have high demand and have consistently been among those with high entrance scores for many years, so the cut-off scores this year may only fluctuate by 0.5 - 1.5 points compared to 2024.
Majors at Hanoi University expected to have high admission scores include: Korean language, Chinese language, English language, Japanese language, information technology, marketing... These are the majors that have had the highest admission scores at the university for the past 5 years. Last year, the admission scores for these majors ranged from 33 to 35.8 out of 40, with the highest scores for Chinese language and English language.
Hanoi Medical University and Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy have a minimum admission score of 22.5, making them the two universities with the highest entrance requirements in the health sciences sector. Following them are Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy with 22 points and Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine with 21 points.
However, Associate Professor Dr. Le Dinh Tung, Vice Rector of Hanoi Medical University, predicts that the university's admission scores will decrease slightly this year. Specifically, majors with admission scores above 28 last year will not see much change. For majors with admission scores between 27 and 28, this year's scores will decrease slightly, following the general trend of the recently announced score distribution. Majors with admission scores of 26 or below will see a more significant decrease.

Engineering majors have fluctuating admission scores.
Dr. Than Thanh Son, Head of the Training Department at Hanoi University of Industry, also predicted that the cut-off scores for the university's majors/training programs would remain stable, possibly decreasing slightly in some majors that had cut-off scores of approximately 26 last year, such as: control and automation engineering technology, and logistics.
Several fields that align with the trends of digital transformation and sustainable development are attracting significant interest from candidates, such as: Information Security; Information Technology; Mechanical Engineering Technology; Automotive Engineering Technology; Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology; Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering Technology; Biomedical Electronics Engineering Technology; Smart Manufacturing Engineering... These fields also follow the general trend mentioned above. For majors using the D01 combination in the business, management, and tourism groups, the expected cut-off scores may decrease slightly.
Hanoi University of Science and Technology anticipates that the majors with the highest admission scores in 2025 will include: Computer Science, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (Advanced Program) with scores above 27.8 points. The group of majors including Computer Engineering, Information Technology (Global ICT), Digital Security (Advanced Program), Control Engineering - Automation, Microelectronics and Nanotechnology, and Vietnam-Japan Information Technology are expected to have scores ranging from 26.5 to 28 points.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Hoa, Head of the Examination and Training Quality Assurance Department at the University of Transport, the admission scores for the university's programs in 2025 will decrease compared to 2024. However, the extent of the decrease will vary depending on the specific group of majors.
The majors with the highest admission scores at the University of Transport and Communications this year will still be: Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Automotive Engineering, and Mechatronics Engineering. The expected admission scores for these majors will remain stable compared to 2024, ranging from 25.5 to nearly 27 points. The remaining majors will have admission scores in the range of 22-24. Some majors are expected to have lower admission scores, such as Civil Engineering for Transportation Infrastructure and Civil Engineering for Hydraulic Engineering, around 20 points.
Dr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Head of the Student Affairs and Communications Department at the University of Science - Vietnam National University, Hanoi, commented that the average scores in this year's high school graduation exam are showing a slight downward trend, impacting the admission scores for some majors at the university. Specifically, admission combinations including mathematics and English, such as mathematics, English, and physics or mathematics, literature, and English, are likely to see a decrease in admission scores. Some majors may see a decrease of about 2 points, but generally, the decrease will be slight, around 0.5 points, compared to last year.
The fluctuation of cutoff scores also depends on the level of competition and the number of applicants for each specific major. Given the government's special attention to key basic science and technology fields, those majors with high demand and attracting the interest of businesses and society are expected to have cutoff scores similar to last year.
Candidates should not panic.
According to Mr. Pham Thai Son, Director of the Admissions and Communications Center at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, initial statistics show that approximately 100,983 candidates registered for admission to the university. However, this is only the total number; there are no specific figures for each major or order of preferences. The most important data, the number of candidates registering for their first choice, is still unknown to the university.
However, Mr. Son believes that candidates should not panic too much. If they list their preferences in the correct order, they will have a chance of being admitted. In addition, during this time, candidates should not rent accommodation in advance on their own, to avoid being scammed by unscrupulous individuals.
"The school is compiling a list of reputable and safe accommodation areas near the school. After the admission results are announced, new students who register for enrollment will be assisted by the school in finding suitable accommodation, completely free of charge," Mr. Son emphasized.
