VnExpressVnExpress17/08/2023

After two virtual nationwide screenings, the benchmark scores for many majors of Southern universities are 0.5-2 points lower than last year.

On August 17, Master Cu Xuan Tien, Head of Admissions and Student Affairs, University of Economics and Law , said that there were 24,000 applications to the school, nearly double last year and 10 times the target. After two virtual filtering rounds, the benchmark score of the University of Economics and Law generally decreased by about 0.5 points compared to last year.

In particular, the majors that attract many candidates such as Digital Marketing, E-commerce, International Business, Foreign Economics, International Trade Law, Banking and Finance, the benchmark scores are at the same level as last year.

"This is the result after the second virtual filtering round. There are still 4 virtual filtering rounds nationwide, so the benchmark score may still fluctuate," said Mr. Tien.

Last year, the school's benchmark score was 27.55 for E-commerce, the lowest being 23.4 for the high-quality Law major with enhanced French.

After the second general filtering round at the end of the afternoon of August 16, the standard score of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade decreased by 0.5-2 points. The Marketing major has a standard score of 22 points. The majors of English, Chinese, Food Technology, Information Technology, and International Business have 21 points.

"Schools will adjust with a small amplitude, the score will move from low to high to see if they meet the quota or not. After the first virtual filtering, the school's benchmark score was only equal to the floor score, the second time the score increased by 0.5-2 but was still lower than last year," shared Master Pham Thai Son, Director of the Admissions and Communications Center, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade.

Last year, the school's admission score based on high school graduation exam scores ranged from 16 to 24. The majors with the highest admission scores were Marketing and Chinese Language.

Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan, Head of Training Department, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry , also said that many majors of the school are expected to reduce the benchmark score by 0.5-1 point compared to 2022 (benchmark score fluctuates between 24-26).

Hot majors such as Information Technology, Automotive Engineering, and Marketing have benchmark scores similar to last year or slightly increased, from 24 points and up. For other majors, benchmark scores range from 22-23 points.

This year, the school has 50,000 applications, about 1/5 of which are first-choice.

According to the University of Finance and Marketing , the admission score is at the same level as last year. Dr. Huynh The Nguyen, Head of Training Management Department, said that the number of applications to the school has decreased slightly but the virtual rate has decreased compared to previous years.

Last year, the benchmark score based on the school's high school graduation exam results ranged from 22 to 26.7, with the highest being the mass marketing program.

Regarding the time of announcing the admission scores, many schools such as the University of Industry and Trade, Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang University, Economics - Law, Economics - Finance University of Ho Chi Minh City, and Technology University of Ho Chi Minh City said they are expected to announce the scores on the evening of August 20, right after the virtual filtering process ends. Other schools in the southern region are expected to announce the admission scores on August 21-22.

This year, more than 660,000 candidates registered for university admission with a total of 3.4 million wishes. Because a candidate can register for many wishes, the virtual filtering is to determine the highest wish that the candidate is eligible to be admitted.

In each virtual filtering, the system will filter out candidates who have passed higher wishes to other schools from the list. This process is done 6 times, completed on the afternoon of August 20.

If admitted, candidates must confirm their admission online on the Ministry's system from August 22 to before 5:00 p.m. on September 6. Schools are not allowed to ask candidates to confirm before the above deadline.
