On the afternoon of August 24, Hanoi Capital University announced that the benchmark score had increased by 0.75 points compared to the initial announcement for the C00 group (Literature, History, Geography), causing many candidates to be confused because they went from passing to failing.
According to the school's explanation, on July 23, the unit issued a public announcement regulating the difference in scores between the C00 group and other admission groups when using high school exam scores. Specifically, groups other than the C00 group will be added 0.75 points on a 30-point scale.
"The school reaffirms that information about the score deviation of the C00 combination has been publicly disclosed clearly and transparently, in accordance with regulations and on time," the school's announcement stated.

The school also said that after receiving the results of 10 times of processing wishes (virtual filtering) by the Ministry of Education and Training and 10 times of virtual filtering by the group of schools in the North, the Admissions Council of Hanoi Capital University met, agreed on the admission score and announced it in 2 separate notices to help candidates, especially those applying for admission using the C00 combination, easily look up information.
However, the division into two announcements led to misunderstandings among candidates and parents, causing public opinion to believe that the benchmark score for block C00 had increased abnormally.
"The decision to announce the admission scores in two announcements was initially intended to be clear, transparent, and facilitate candidates in looking up information. However, the technique of issuing the documents was not seamless, causing misunderstandings among candidates and parents, thereby creating negative public opinion," Hanoi Capital University admitted.
The unit representative said that they had severely criticized the individuals in charge and seriously learned from their experiences to better carry out recruitment and communication work.
The incident originated on the afternoon of August 22, when Hanoi Capital University issued a notice on the standard scores for regular universities in 2025. This document announced the general admission score ranging from 20.86 to 27.38 points.
By the afternoon of August 23, nearly a day after the first announcement, the school posted another announcement on its fanpage, announcing specific benchmark scores for candidates using the C00 combination. It is worth mentioning that the benchmark scores for 10 majors in this combination all increased by 0.75 points compared to the initial announcement.
This incident caused a negative reaction, when many candidates used the C00 combination results to compare their scores and thought they had passed, but were "shocked" when the standard score was adjusted, going from passing to failing their wishes.
