Tham Temple is located at the confluence of the Cau and Chu rivers.

Tham Temple is located in Hamlet 2, Cho Moi Commune, and is dedicated to a female general named Tham, who was both talented and beautiful, and played a significant role in the struggle against the Black Flag rebels in the late 19th century.

Throughout history, Tham Temple served as a strong base for the local army and people during the resistance against French colonialism, acting as a forward outpost for military bases and as the office of the Cho Moi Resistance Committee.

The temple complex includes: the Mother Goddess Temple, the Lady Goddess Temple (dedicated to Lady Tham), and a Buddhist worship area. Every year, the temple welcomes tens of thousands of visitors from all over the country who come to offer incense, worship, and pray for peace.

Not only is Tham Temple a historical, cultural, and religious site, but it is also an important archaeological site. In 2018, the temple management board discovered many prehistoric artifacts such as stone tools, polished axes, stone bracelets, and about 10 prehistoric human remains on the cliff to the left of the temple.

Research by the provincial museum and archaeologists indicates that the artifacts at the Tham Temple site belong to the late Neolithic - early Metal Age period, dating back approximately 3,000 years.

Currently, the ancient prehistoric burial site has been built right within the temple grounds, allowing visitors to combine their pilgrimage with a visit to learn about the traces of ancient Vietnamese settlements, thereby enhancing the cultural, historical, and archaeological value of Tham Temple.

With its unique historical and spiritual values, in 2025, the local government organized the first Tham Temple Festival on the 6th and 7th of January. A highlight of the festival's activities was the reenactment of the legend of Tham Temple - Cay Thi, recounting the story of General Tham, who contributed to a glorious chapter in history by repelling the Black Flag rebels in the late 19th century.

In just a few days, the Tham Temple Spring Festival of the Year of the Horse 2026 will take place. All preparations for the festival are being carried out by Cho Moi commune. The festival will be held over two days, the 6th and 7th of the first lunar month of the Year of the Horse (February 22nd and 23rd, 2026), in hamlets 2 and 4 of Cho Moi commune (opposite Tham Temple).

Compared to last year, this year's festival features many more diverse activities such as releasing floating lanterns; organizing camping competitions, displaying local OCOP products; organizing folk games; sports activities; and cultural performances.

Ms. Tran Thi Xuan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Cho Moi commune, said: "To ensure the Tham Temple Festival is held solemnly and meets the needs of tourists from inside and outside the province who come to worship and sightsee, the People's Committee of the commune has established a Festival Organizing Committee, supporting teams, developed a plan and program, and assigned specific tasks to each member. Preparations are carried out with the motto 'solemn, safe, economical, and effective'. Visitors to the festival can also visit the historical site of the Military Ordnance Department and the Vietnam Weapons Production Union, located about 2km from Tham Temple..."

The Tham Temple Festival is not only an occasion to commemorate the contributions of those who have served the country, but also an opportunity to preserve and promote the traditional cultural values of Cho Moi commune, bringing a joyful and warm spring atmosphere to the people and tourists.
