Highlights of the week: iOS 26 released, ChatGPT experiences issues.

(Dan Tri Newspaper) - The most notable technology news of the past week includes Apple introducing the iOS 26 operating system, ChatGPT experiencing issues, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max performance benchmarks being leaked.

What's new in iOS 26?

At the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025, held in the early hours of June 10th (Vietnam time), Apple announced the iOS 26 operating system.

The company also introduced its completely new Liquid Glass design language for the first time, which is applied across all of its software platforms.

iOS 26 brings a host of improvements within each app. The Camera app has been redesigned with a more minimalist and intuitive interface. The Phone app has added call filtering, which can help answer calls or hold calls when the user is busy.

Apple has stated that iOS 26 and other versions of the operating system will be officially released this fall. It's highly likely that the update will be included with the iPhone 17 generation, which is expected to launch in September.

Galaxy Z Fold7 revealed

Information from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has confirmed that a device with model number SM-F966B – believed to be the international version of the Galaxy Z Fold7 – has officially received certification.

The accompanying documents indicate that the device will use a processor codenamed SM8750, which is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip for Galaxy, also known commercially as Snapdragon 8 Elite.

This reinforces previous speculation that the Galaxy Z Fold7 will continue to use Qualcomm's top-of-the-line processor, targeting the Android flagship segment. Additionally, the device is also noted to support many modern connectivity technologies such as 5G, Wi-Fi 7, ultra-wideband (UWB), wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging.

Which air conditioner models will be subject to excise tax?

During the morning session on June 14th, the National Assembly officially passed the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Special Consumption Tax, which will apply an additional 10% tax rate to air conditioners with a capacity from 24,000 to 90,000 BTU, effective from January 1st, 2026.

Unlike residential air conditioners with capacities ranging from 9,000 to 18,000 BTU, 24,000–90,000 BTU units are typically integrated into central air conditioning systems, multi-connection systems, VRF/VRV systems, or as a single unit mounted on the roof.

These systems are permanently installed in hotels, hospitals, schools, shopping malls, factories, or office complexes... They are capable of cooling areas of up to 300–800 m² per unit.

Anker recalls over 1.1 million chargers due to fire and explosion risk.

Anker has just announced a recall of its PowerCore 10000 power bank (product code A1263) due to "potential issues with the lithium-ion battery that could pose a fire hazard."

According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (USCPSC), users in the U.S. have reported a total of 19 fires and explosions related to this type of portable power bank, resulting in some minor burns to users and an estimated total property damage of $60,700.

The recall applies to approximately 1.15 million portable power banks that were sold online in the US through e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, eBay, and Newegg between June 2016 and December 2022.

ChatGPT is down.

On the evening of June 10th, many Vietnamese users were unable to use the artificial intelligence tool ChatGPT. Many users reported that the platform was unable to respond to commands.

This incident has significantly impacted users in Vietnam, especially since ChatGPT is gradually becoming a powerful tool to support the work of many people.

New revelations about the power of the iPhone 17 Pro Max

According to GSMArena , the A19 chip in the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max achieved over 4,000 single-core points and 10,000 multi-core points in the Geekbench 6 benchmark.

For comparison, the A18 Pro chip in the iPhone 16 Pro Max scored 3,490 points in single-core performance and 8,606 points in multi-core performance. This suggests that the overall performance of the iPhone 17 Pro Max will increase by approximately 15% compared to its predecessor.

Numerous leaks indicate that the A19 Pro processor will be manufactured using TSMC's N3P process, similar to two other high-end chips: the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 and the MediaTek Dimensity 9500.
