Clicks has just launched the Communicator, the company's first smartphone, clearly positioned as a secondary phone for work and messaging. The device runs Android 16 with Niagara Launcher, featuring a minimalist list interface that prioritizes important emails, messages, and notifications, reminiscent of BlackBerry's earlier philosophy.
The biggest highlight is the physical, backlit QWERTY keyboard, which supports touch scrolling and comes with a color-changing Signal light to indicate notifications without turning on the screen.
The Clicks Communicator uses a 4.03-inch AMOLED screen with a 1080 x 1200 resolution, intentionally small to limit entertainment and minimize distractions.
Inside, it features a 4nm MediaTek 5G IoT chip, a 4,000 mAh silicon carbon battery, 256 GB of internal storage, and support for microSD cards up to 2 TB. Classic features such as the 3.5mm headphone jack, physical SIM, eSIM, airplane mode switch, and programmable side buttons have also been retained. Priced at $499, the Communicator isn't for everyone, but it's suitable for those who pursue a minimalist digital lifestyle and enjoy physical typing.
With a clear direction, Clicks Communicator shows that smartphones with small screens and physical keyboards still have a place in the modern Android era. Readers are invited to watch the video : Top 10 'Terrifying' Tech Devices of the Future.
