Actor Gabriel Guevara arrested at Venice Film Festival

Venice Film Festival organizers confirmed to the press that Gabriel Guevara was arrested on charges of sexual assault. The teen idol had nothing to do with the Venice Film Festival event, according to Variety .

Gabriel Guevara (22 years old) arrived in Venice on September 2 and publicly attended the Venice Film Festival in several Instagram posts. The actor was supposed to receive an award called the Italian Cinematography Award on the sidelines of the film festival, which has nothing to do with the Venice Film Festival.

Gabriel Guevara is wanted internationally for alleged sexual assault in France. The arrest took place in Venice on September 2, initially reported by the Venetian daily La Nuova Venezia . Guevara's representatives did not comment on the case.

The Venice Court of Appeal will now have to rule on Guevara's case before he can be extradited. The actor is currently under guard. The exact charges against him have not been made public.
