Liu Xun was born in Beijing in 1939 and studied Peking Opera from a young age. After graduating in 1958, he taught at the China Academy of Peking Opera. In the 1980s, he moved to Hong Kong to pursue his career. In addition to teaching at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts, he actively researched and taught Cantonese opera.
In 1986, at the invitation of director Tsui Hark, Liu Xun took on the role of choreographer for the film "The Horse and the Sword ," and also made a guest appearance. From then on, he officially embarked on his film career. He is particularly famous for his roles as eunuchs and villains.
