In 1994, before becoming the richest man in the world , Bill Gates - the boss of Microsoft spent 30.8 million USD to buy Leonardo da Vinci's Codex Leicester .

The $30.8 million price tag made it the most expensive book ever purchased.

The document, which is only 72 pages long, includes Leonardo da Vinci's sketches and ideas on the subjects of astronomy, mechanics, botany and architecture.

Previously, Bill Gates was known as a simple person, not liking to buy expensive clothes, not spending lavishly. So, the "expensive" expense for this "most expensive book in the world" certainly had special reasons. Bill Gates later shared some things that he appreciated after reading this book.

Fascinated by Leonardo's way of thinking

Bill Gates was completely surprised by the new things he found in the book. He wrote in his blog: "When you read all the successes and some of the failures in Leonardo's books, you will realize that he has a characteristic of always being curious and wondering."

When he wanted to understand something, whether it was the workings of the heart pumping blood throughout the body or the shape of a woodpecker's tongue, he would observe it closely, write down his thoughts, and then try to figure out the answers to his questions himself."

Bill Gates believes that in an age where Wikipedia and Youtube are completely free, satisfying human curiosity has become too easy. However, fortunately, there is a man who lived 500 years ago to remind us of how to satisfy curiosity in ancient times. It is a simple thing but forgotten in modern life today.

Feel a connection with Leonardo

Although he has not created any artistic masterpieces like Mona Lisa or Last Supper, Bill Gates feels that he and Leonardo are similar in many ways.

In his book, Bill Gates wrote: "People will carry small devices that allow them to constantly stay in touch and do business anytime, anywhere. They will be able to check the news, see what flights they have booked, get information from financial markets, and do just about anything else on these devices."

Surprisingly, the prediction that year came true in a surprising way as the world technology industry boomed many years later.

Leonardo had previously made some incredible predictions. For example, in the Codex Leicester , he recorded drawings and theories about the heart's pumping principle. Many of these have been considered by scientists and medical researchers to be of great value to world medicine since their discovery until now.

Like Leonardo, Gates is always eager to learn and turn his ambitious ideas into reality. One of them is the desire to eradicate four diseases by 2030.

"I feel optimistic about the future because I know that advances in human knowledge have improved life for billions of people and I am confident that they will continue to do so," he told Times magazine.

We all have different goals and ambitions. Sometimes it is inevitable to lose motivation and hope. Inspirational people like Leonardo have helped us have more faith in the plans ahead. This legend has shown us that good habits and positive thinking are gradually disappearing in today's life, Bill Gates shared.

It can be said that the value that books bring is of great significance to thinking, vision and has the power to change a person's life. Bill Gates has nurtured a strong connection with Leonardo in his personality and way of thinking.

This has helped Bill Gates have "one of the most creative minds ever" and it has helped him pursue and conquer ambitions that few people can do.
