During the training course, the trainees were informed by experts about a number of important topics such as an overview of digital information resource preservation, the process of implementing digital information resource preservation, protecting copyright of digital documents on the Internet environment, instructions on using some software to support the digital preservation process, instructions on storing data to preserve digital information resources long-term, data security, application of AI technology in the library field, etc.
At the training course, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dung, Director of the National Library of Vietnam, said that in recent years, the library sector has achieved remarkable achievements in building digital databases and developing modern library services. However, the digital transformation journey also poses a big challenge, which is how to preserve the valuable digital information resources that we have created and are creating for a long time. When we create and accumulate a large amount of digital resources, the question is not only how to digitize or standardize, but also how to ensure that these valuable resources can exist, be accessed and used for future generations.
According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dung, data preservation is not simply backing up data, but a continuous process including managing and moving data through different formats and technology environments to combat software and hardware obsolescence. Therefore, the training course is not only a professional event but also a forum for learning, exchanging and finding positive solutions in the future.
