Thailand's tourism industry gradually improves at the end of the year

Thailand’s tourism industry is seeing a strong recovery in the last quarter of 2025, with an average of nearly 100,000 international arrivals per day. In particular, the number of Chinese visitors doubled during the Golden Week holiday (September 28 - October 6), from less than 10,000 to about 20,000 per day.

This growth reflects renewed confidence in Thailand as a top destination, and bodes well for the economy at the end of the year, said Ms. Nattariya Thaweewong, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.

In addition to China, the number of visitors from Malaysia and India has also increased steadily since late September as the Thai government has stepped up security at tourist destinations to mitigate the impact of floods and border security concerns. Thailand is also actively promoting itself through international sporting events such as the Women's Volleyball World Cup, the 33rd SEA Games, the Loy Krathong Festival and the New Year celebrations in the land of the Golden Temples.

According to Adith Chairattananon, Secretary General of the Association of Thai Travel Agents (ATTA), flights from China are almost fully booked, with a booking rate of 99%, three times the normal level. Round-trip fares from Bangkok to Beijing have increased by more than 400%; airlines such as China Eastern, Hainan Airlines, Air China and Vietjet have all recorded record high bookings.

The influx of international visitors has brought tangible benefits to hotels, restaurants, airlines and tourism businesses in Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai and many other second-tier cities – where Chinese tourists are increasingly distributed. Thailand is also promoting domestic tourism through tax incentives, spreading economic benefits to local communities.
