It is known that on the morning of September 5, Song Tu Tay Island Infirmary, Truong Sa Special Zone ( Khanh Hoa ) received patient Nguyen Duc Quang, who was brought in by a group of fishermen on fishing boat QNg-96678 TS in a state of deep coma, circulatory failure, respiratory failure, and acute kidney failure.
According to the group of fishermen, on September 4, while fishing about 3 nautical miles northwest of Da Nam Island, Mr. Quang made 3 dives at a depth of 40-43m. By the evening of the same day, Mr. Quang was paralyzed in both lower limbs and in a deep coma.

Doctors and nurses at Song Tu Tay Island Infirmary urgently performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation, administered oxygen, administered intravenous fluids, and prescribed vasopressors, while simultaneously conducting an online consultation with the Naval Medical Institute to implement a prolonged re-injection treatment regimen, combined with intensive resuscitation. However, the patient's condition was unstable, with complications of circulatory arrest, difficulty in resuscitating the patient, and a risk of aspiration, embolism, etc., requiring early transfer to the mainland for treatment.

Under the direction of the 18th Army Corps, at 9:00 p.m. on September 5, the EC-225 helicopter took the emergency team of Military Hospital 175 from Vung Tau airport to Song Tu Tay Island at 2:50 a.m. on September 6.
Although the rescue flight was long, in the dark, and in complicated weather, with the coordinated and smooth coordination of the flight crew, the emergency team, and several units of the Air Defense - Air Force, and the Navy, at 10:38 a.m. on September 6, the patient was taken to Military Hospital 175 in Ho Chi Minh City for further emergency care and treatment.
