Preparation for integration

In the context of increasingly deep international integration, the young generation of Vietnam in general, and students and vocational trainees in Da Nang in particular, are facing many opportunities but also numerous challenges.

To enter the "global arena" and assert themselves, young people need more than just book knowledge; they also need foreign languages, digital skills, creativity, and the ability to integrate into the global community.

Efforts to assert oneself

Dao Ngoc Khai Hoan, a student majoring in Culinary Arts at the Y Viet Vocational School, is jokingly called "the boy of the kitchen" by his friends. While his peers chose to study popular fields like information technology and economics , Hoan decided to pursue a career in cooking, a job that is both stressful and full of opportunities, especially in a tourist city like Da Nang.

In April 2024, Hoan participated in an internship at Ba Na Hills tourist resort and was the only one among 30 students to be hired officially as a kitchen assistant. Since then, Hoan's schedule has become incredibly busy. Every day, she wakes up at 6 am to travel to Ba Na Hills, works until 5 pm, then rushes home to take care of personal matters before attending classes from 7:30 pm to 9 pm. Having worked there for over a year, Hoan has not only gained valuable professional experience but also earns approximately 9 million VND per month, helping her cover tuition fees and support her family.

As for Pham Quang Nhut, a final-year student in the Information Technology department at the University of Technology ( Da Nang University), he is described by his friends and teachers as having a progressive spirit and a passion for technology. While still in university, he found a job in his field at a Japanese technology company based in Da Nang.

My work focuses on researching and developing AI models such as text recognition, chatbots, and AI for editing exercise movements. Each project requires patience, logical thinking, and teamwork skills. For AI to work, you have to study the mathematical techniques and how to process data; even a small error can cause the entire system to malfunction.

Nhut stated: “Da Nang is on a strong path of integration. It's understandable that many students are interested in and pursuing AI, as this field aligns with the new development trends. In my opinion, if Da Nang knows how to effectively utilize its advantages of young, creative human resources and quick access to new technologies, it can absolutely establish its own position on the national technology map.”

New tools for the aspiration of integration.

Tran Thi Mai Trinh, a student from the Faculty of Information Technology at Duy Tan University, impressed with her excellent academic achievements coupled with her volunteer spirit for the community. In addition to her outstanding academic performance, she was also awarded the titles of "Outstanding Student" and "Advanced Student Following President Ho Chi Minh's Teachings" at the university level.

In addition to her academic achievements, Trinh is a leading figure in the volunteer movement. Recently, she has been assisting the local government and residents of Dien Ban Bac ward with the application of information technology and digital transformation. Trinh is also the leader of the "Green Da Nang" volunteer group, regularly organizing clean-up activities on Son Tra peninsula, beach clean-ups, and programs to support disadvantaged children.

"I think studying is the most important thing, but if you only learn from books without experience, you'll be very lost when you graduate. Volunteering helps me develop soft skills, gain more confidence, and broaden my opportunities for the future," Trinh affirmed.

According to Nguyen Thanh Dat, Secretary of the Youth Union of Da Nang University, in the context of increasingly deep international integration, students need to equip themselves comprehensively to meet the increasingly high demands of the labor market. Besides solid professional knowledge, students must cultivate soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving; and proactively acquire digital skills, master information technology, and adapt quickly to new platforms.

Foreign languages are considered the "key" to expanding career opportunities and confidently entering a global work environment. In addition, a proactive attitude, a willingness to learn, and creativity are essential qualities for students' sustainable development.

“The younger generation is the core force in the city's strategy for building high-quality human resources. With their dynamism, creativity, and responsibility, students are not only an important supplement to the labor market, but also a driving force for innovation and integration. Through this, they contribute to realizing the aspiration of making Da Nang a socio-economic, educational, and technological center of the Central and Central Highlands regions,” affirmed Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dat.
