Homeroom teacher suspended for beating student, leaving bruises on both legs.

(Dan Tri Newspaper) - A 6th-grade male student at Le Quy Don Secondary School in Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam province, was beaten on both legs with a ruler by his homeroom teacher, leaving him bruised. The homeroom teacher has been temporarily suspended from her duties pending an investigation by the authorities.

On the evening of November 13th, in an interview with Dan Tri newspaper, Mr. Le Van Tam, the principal of Le Quy Don Secondary School in Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam province, confirmed that an incident of a homeroom teacher beating a student, resulting in bruises on both legs, had occurred at the school.

According to initial information, a few days ago, during physical education class, two sixth-grade students at the school had a conflict that led to a fight, and one of them sustained marks on their back.

After the incident, Ms. E. (the homeroom teacher of the two 6th-grade students) used a ruler to hit the soft tissue on one of the students' legs, causing bruising.

Teacher Tam admitted that the homeroom teacher was wrong to hit the students, and that she acted out of anger. She should have invited the parents of the two students to resolve the issue.

Teacher Tam also said that the school had worked with the students and the homeroom teacher and had taken the student who was beaten to see a doctor.

Speaking to a reporter from Dan Tri newspaper , Mr. Nguyen Huu Sau, Head of the Education and Training Department of Duy Xuyen district, said that the homeroom teacher had admitted her mistake, and the Department had instructed the school and the homeroom teacher to submit a report.

"Currently, the principal has suspended the homeroom teacher from her duties to facilitate the investigation. After receiving the results of the student's health assessment, we will take appropriate action depending on the severity of the case," Mr. Sau stated.

According to Mr. Sau, the school and the Trade Union Executive Committee have already visited and offered encouragement to the students and their families.
