Authorities suspend operations of numerous clinics and spas operating illegally.

According to information from the Inspectorate of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health , the unit has just issued a decision to impose an administrative fine of 60 million VND on Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, owner of Saigon International Clinic (address: 21 Street No. 3, CityLand Center Hills Residential Area, Ward 7, Go Vap District) for a series of violations in medical examination and treatment activities.

Specifically, this unit engaged in the practice of using drugs, anesthetics, substances, and equipment to intervene in the body, even though the facility was not a hospital with a cosmetic surgery department or a scope of professional practice in cosmetic surgery; and advertised medical examination and treatment services without an operating license or medical practice certificate.

Ho Chi Minh City, Dinh Chi district: Many clinics and spas are operating illegally (Figure 1).

Saigon International Clinic has been suspended until it obtains an operating license.

In addition, the clinic's medical examination and treatment activities have been suspended until it obtains a medical examination and treatment license and its practitioners have professional medical practice certificates; it has also been ordered to remove and delete advertisements that were posted without an operating license.

Also during this period, the Inspectorate of the Department of Health fined Ms. Ho Thi Kim Phuong - owner of Ruby Spa (address: 42, Street 110, Hamlet 2, Tan Thanh Dong Commune, Cu Chi District) 65 million VND for the following violations: providing medical examination and treatment without a professional practice certificate; using drugs, anesthetics, substances, and equipment to intervene in the body even though the facility is not a hospital with a cosmetic surgery department or has a scope of professional activity in cosmetic surgery.

This establishment has also been suspended from operation until it obtains an operating license and its practitioners receive professional certifications. In addition, the owner must return any illicit profits obtained from the violation.

The Inspectorate of the Department of Health also fined Double N Aesthetics Vietnam Co., Ltd. 20 million VND for violations at Dermatology Clinic No. 3 (address: 60-62 Mac Thi Buoi Street, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1) for the following offenses: Failure to display service prices for medical examination and treatment; incomplete recording of patient records; practitioners not registering for medical practice as required; and failure to create patient medical records as required.

Authorities also revoked the medical practice license of Ms. Bien Thi Cam Loan, the technical manager of Dermatology Clinic No. 3, for a period of two months.

The Inspectorate of the Department of Health also fined Phuong Dong International Eye Center Co., Ltd. (address: 71-73 Ngo Thoi Nhiem Street, Vo Thi Sau Ward, District 3) 57 million VND for violations including advertising medical examination and treatment services without an operating license or medical practice certificate; listing departments and wards incorrectly as stated in the operating license; and practitioners not registering to practice medicine. The company was also ordered to remove and delete advertisements that lacked an operating license.
