Defending runners-up Da Nang University of Sports and Physical Education secured a narrow 1-0 victory against Quy Nhon University thanks to a goal from a free kick by center-back Nguyen Van Hai Quan at the beginning of the second half. Although they earned all three points, it was a difficult match for Coach Tran Trung Kien's team. Despite being considered the stronger side, the Da Nang players struggled to find a way past goalkeeper Mai Quoc Dat against Quy Nhon University's tight defense. A sharp and effective free-kick from Nguyen Van Hai Quan changed the course of the game, securing the final victory for Da Nang University of Sports and Physical Education.
Speaking after the match, Coach Tran Trung Kien said that although the team won, the coaching staff was not entirely satisfied with their performance. "As it was the first match, the players' spirit and coordination weren't great, which prevented the Da Nang University of Sports team from implementing their desired style of play. However, I must admit that the opponent, Quy Nhon University, also played well. The goal from the free kick was the result of careful preparation during training. Taking advantage of opportunities from set pieces is essential," Coach Tran Trung Kien stated.
The victory in their opening match boosted the morale of the Da Nang University of Sports and Physical Education team, as they looked forward to their next match against the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology. Meanwhile, the defeat in their opening match forced the Quy Nhon University team to fight a decisive battle against the defending champions, Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in the next round of Group C to keep their hopes of reaching the quarterfinals alive.
