Many positive impact models
In the vibrant atmosphere of the 2025 Impact Measurement Festival, many small and medium-sized startups brought innovative models with social and environmental impacts. Among them, Echotech Digital Technology Joint Stock Company attracted attention with the project "Environmental friendly mesh bags" - a product recycled from used fishing nets, contributing to reducing disposable plastic bags, while creating livelihoods for rural women. The product is currently widely used in communes and wards such as Tam Thanh, Hoa Huong (Tam Ky City), Dien Hoa (Dien Ban Town) and many units choose it as a gift to spread the message of green living.

Ms. Huynh Thi Tuong Vy - Director of Echotech Digital Technology Joint Stock Company said: “Our project carries a clear message about environmental protection, but the biggest barrier today is that there is no scientific tool to accurately measure the positive impacts of the product. I came to this festival with the desire to learn how to integrate measurement tools into the production process and build a capacity profile, to increase access to investment and replicate the model”.

Similar to Echotech, Hai Van Clean Energy Joint Stock Company, founded and operated by Mr. Truong Tu Long, is also pursuing a circular economic model through recycling biological waste into clean fuel and organic agricultural substrates.
The company focuses on researching technology to recycle leaves, branches and organic waste after pruning, collected from public roads and parks to process into fuel to replace fossil fuels. Up to now, the company regularly supplies 100 - 500 tons of biomass materials to industrial factories each month, including many big brands such as Heineken, Vinamilk, Pepsi...

What businesses like Hai Van need most right now is not just capital or market, but a set of clear impact assessment criteria to convince investors of the social and environmental efficiency that the model is bringing. Measuring specific impacts with scientific numbers will be a prerequisite to affirm the difference and sustainability of the business model we pursue.

Numbers tell stories
At the event, experts all agreed that in the context of more and more organizations aiming for sustainable values in addition to profit goals, impact measurement is not only an effective management tool, but also a "common language" that helps businesses tell their journey of creating social and environmental values in a transparent and convincing manner.

Specific impact figures are vivid evidence of the effectiveness of initiatives pursued by businesses. The organizers said the theme “Measuring Impact - Effective Fundraising” was chosen to spread the mindset of promoting positive impact, not only through actions but also through “storytelling numbers” in the eyes of investors.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy - Country Director of IIX Vietnam introduced the project "Ready for impact investment in Vietnam" funded by the Government of Canada, laying the foundation to connect impact businesses with domestic and foreign financial resources. Next, expert Tran Thi Phuong presented the concept of social impact businesses and the impact measurement method on the digital platform IIX Values.

When talking to investors, quantifying the impact, such as the number of people benefiting, costs saved, emissions reduced, etc., will help to more clearly demonstrate the value of the business. Impact investors often consider both the financial performance and the social impact of the business, so having reliable measurement data is key to successful fundraising.

Da Nang was chosen as the venue for the Impact Measurement Day not only because it is the economic hub of the Central region but also because of its dynamic startup ecosystem with a sustainable development orientation. In recent times, Da Nang and neighboring provinces have nurtured many business models associated with solving social issues such as environment, energy, education, etc.

Ms. Ngo Thu Trang - Financial Access Expert IIX said: "The knowledge, practical tools and meaningful connections from the event are just the starting point. More importantly, startups need to have a strong belief that their impact-creating efforts are worthy and have widespread value. That belief and aspiration will be the motivation for them to continue to steadfastly pursue the dual goal of business development associated with social responsibility, contributing to transforming positive changes for the community in the future."
