Reporters noted that although the festival did not start until 8am, from early morning, crowds of people had flocked to the stadium area to line up to watch the buffalo fight. Among them were many tourists from other localities outside Hai Phong City.
Mr. Do Duy Cong, a tourist from Hanoi, said that he and a few friends had been in Do Son since the previous afternoon, booked a room to wake up early in the morning to go to the stadium to choose a good seat.

According to the festival organizing committee, it is estimated that this year there were about 20,000 spectators present at Do Son Stadium to watch the buffalo fighting live, the matches were also broadcast live on THP channel of Hai Phong Newspaper and Radio - Television.
Notably, as soon as the first matches began, meat stalls appeared outside the stadium, advertised as buffalo meat from the first match with a listed price of 3 million VND/kg.
Even though they know this might not be fighting buffalo meat and the price is more than 10 times higher than other buffalo meat on the market, there are still quite a few buyers.

A female tourist shared that she is from Hai Phong but currently lives in Quang Ninh . This year, while visiting her hometown, she stopped by Do Son festival to buy a few kilos of meat to prepare for her relatives' celebration.
“I know the price of buffalo meat gets higher the further you go, but it's hard to get "genuine" goods. Any buffalo meat will be the same sooner or later. Buy early to get a cheap price, the main thing is the spirit…” – this female tourist confided.
This is the first year the buffalo fighting festival is organized by Do Son ward, after the implementation of the arrangement of administrative units and the cessation of the district-level administrative unit (previously carried out by the People's Committee of Do Son district, old Hai Phong city).

Mr. Pham Hoang Tuan - Vice Chairman of Do Son Ward People's Committee said that this year's festival is titled "Do Son Buffalo Fighting Festival VTV 2025", with the participation of Do Son and Nam Do Son wards.
Also according to Mr. Pham Hoang Tuan, in order to unify the organization, from now on the Do Son buffalo fighting festival will be managed and organized by the People's Committee of Do Son ward.
The festival continues to maintain the traditional organization rituals, which have been recognized as a national intangible heritage, including 2 parts: The ceremony part includes cultural rituals such as incense offering ceremony, water procession ceremony and buffalo sacrifice ceremony... according to local customs.

The festival was held today (September 30) on the 9th day of the 8th lunar month every year according to tradition. 16 fighting buffaloes were selected, cared for and carefully trained, and performed intense and fierce fights, demonstrating bravery and martial spirit.
As a result, buffalo number 06 owned by owner Dinh Dinh Phu (91 years old, residing in Do Son ward) won first prize with a prize of 100 million VND.
