At the working session, the delegation discussed with BSR about the Company's strategy for science and technology development, innovation and digital transformation.
Reporting to the working delegation, Mr. Mai Tuan Dat - Deputy General Director of BSR introduced an overview of Dung Quat Refinery's operations; scientific research results, technical initiatives; and the digital transformation ecosystem that the Company has been implementing. In the period of 2020 - 2025, BSR has developed many new products such as special fuels Jet A-1K, DO L-62, RON 83; high-quality PP resins; MFO, SAF and solid sulfur. At the same time, the Company promotes energy optimization, improves operational efficiency and reduces emissions through the application of digital technology, simulation, AI and advanced management systems.

BSR also presented the Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy to 2030, with key objectives: bringing the level of digital transformation to "Leading" level; Total Factor Productivity (TFP) contributing over 55% to growth; Science, Technology and Innovation capacity reaching "Efficiency" level; increasing patent registration and publishing research results. Currently, the Company is implementing many science and technology tasks on clean energy, green fuels (SAF, biodiesel, SMFO...), chemicals and advanced materials, circular economy, energy storage and digital transformation/AI. In particular, BSR is leading a science and technology task ordered by the Ministry of Industry and Trade: "Research on building a process of blending SBC (Synthetic Blend Component) with Jet A-1 to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at the Vietnam Oil Refinery".
Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam Giang - Director of the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion introduced the priority orientations of the Ministry of Industry and Trade on science, technology and innovation development associated with the implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, especially the implementation of Plan No. 01-KH/BCĐTW dated June 2, 2025 of the BĐTW on strategic actions to implement Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW; Decision of the Prime Minister promulgating the List of strategic technologies and strategic technology products; and at the same time, introduced a number of long-term programs of the Ministry of Industry and Trade aiming at the goal of responding to climate change, carbon neutrality, including using energy economically and efficiently, sustainable production and consumption, digital transformation and smart production.
Concluding the meeting, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam Giang highly appreciated BSR's efforts in pioneering the application of science and technology in production, and affirmed that BSR's development orientations are consistent with the Ministry's priority orientations, aiming to master a number of technologies, strategic products, carbon neutrality and national energy transition. The Department also requested BSR to continue to strongly participate in science and technology and innovation programs chaired by the Ministry of Industry and Trade; expand the cooperation ecosystem between the State - enterprises - institutes and schools; and accelerate the implementation of pilot models related to green fuels, circular economy and environmental protection.
The working session not only acknowledged the achievements in BSR's scientific and technological research but also opened up opportunities for extensive cooperation between the Ministry of Industry and Trade and enterprises in researching and testing new technologies; developing clean energy products; and promoting green transformation, contributing to realizing the sustainable development goals of Vietnam's energy and petrochemical industry.
