Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs Tran Khanh Thuc reported on the situation and results of foreign affairs work of Nghe An province.

Promoting the country's new position and strength, closely following the foreign policy of the 13th National Party Congress, on the basis of the Foreign Affairs Cooperation Program between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Nghe An province for the period of 2023-2025 signed in 2023, the international integration work and foreign affairs activities of Nghe An province have had many innovations, strong, positive, synchronous and effective changes on 3 pillars: Party foreign affairs, State diplomacy, and People's diplomacy. The province has received the direction and orientation of the leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the timely coordination and responsibility of units in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, especially the Department of Foreign Affairs and Cultural Diplomacy, and Vietnamese representative agencies abroad in the implementation process, especially for important foreign affairs activities, complex and sensitive issues. Thanks to that, the province's foreign affairs work has achieved many important results, contributing to promoting the socio -economic development of the province.

However,the introduction and connection of partners in the field of economic diplomacy, especially FDI investors from European and American markets, are still limited. Although Nghe An province has made many efforts, it has not yet effectively promoted international integration in the fields of economic diplomacy such as attracting international tourists, connecting markets, and improving the competitive advantages of goods; the work of promoting the province's image to international friends is not up to par.

In particular, in the process of implementing foreign affairs activities in the context of implementing two-level local government, Nghe An province still faces some difficulties such as:In the context of Vietnam having implemented two-level local government, while Laos still maintains the old model with the intermediate level being the district level. Therefore, the implementation of foreign affairs activities at the commune level still faces certain difficulties. Currently, the province is coordinating with Lao provinces bordering the border to exchange and agree on focal points to implement cooperative activities at the commune level. Currently, specific policies to support foreign affairs work at the local level, regarding the regime of receiving international guests, giving foreign gifts are still difficult, affecting the implementation of foreign affairs activities and international cooperation...

In order for foreign affairs to continue to go into depth and better serve the province's socio-economic development goals in the new period, Nghe An province requests the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to continue to pay attention to directing and supporting the province in important foreign affairs activities in the following years, especially issues of long-term strategy, programs and projects in the province's foreign affairs. Orient Nghe An province on some key contents in foreign affairs and international integration in the coming period. Create conditions for Nghe An province to participate in Central working delegations on promoting the locality, attracting investment, trade and tourism. Support the province in expanding twinning activities with new localities to diversify partners.

Along with that, Nghe An province requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to strengthen training and fostering both domestically and internationally for the team of officials and civil servants working in foreign affairs of the province; continue to pay attention and propose to the Government to promote the implementation of the project to build the Hanoi - Vientiane expressway through Thanh Thuy border gate (Nghe An). At the same time, promptly consult with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR to consider upgrading Nam On border gate (Bo Ly Khamxay province) to the main border gate to be similar to Thanh Thuy border gate (Nghe An province has upgraded since 2012), creating conditions for entry and exit, import and export on both sides of the border. Preside and coordinate with relevant ministries and branches to promptly issue procedures to repair, construct, repair and reinforce damaged border markers, ensuring consistency in implementation by localities. Regularly provide information and the situation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' advisory work on cases related to the prevention of illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing so that localities can be updated on the situation and coordinate in handling related cases.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Cultural Diplomacy Nguyen Dong Trung acknowledged and agreed with the recommendations and proposals of Nghe An province. The Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Cultural Diplomacy also oriented some directions for coordination in the coming time, such as enhancing information exchange, supporting localities in promoting images, culture, tourism; connecting with potential international partners. At the same time, he affirmed that he will continue to accompany localities in implementing foreign affairs activities, contributing to promoting socio-economic development and enhancing the province's position in the international integration process.

Speaking at the working session, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phung Thanh Vinh affirmed that the presence of the comrades in the working delegation demonstrated the close and practical attention of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the foreign affairs and international integration of Nghe An province, especially after the province successfully organized the 20th Congress of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committeesaid that the province will coordinate more closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to effectively implement the contents of the Foreign Affairs Cooperation Program between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Nghe An province for the period 2023-2025 and continue to promote effectiveness in the period 2025-2030. At the same time, the province will proactively concretize the Ministry's orientations and directions into programs and action plans so that NgheAn province's foreign affairs and international integration work can be implemented more strongly and effectively, creating a new momentum and new driving force, making an important contribution to the overall development of the country.
