Nghe An province and Hong Kong (China) enterprises promote further cooperation in areas of mutual strength and interest such as trade and investment, high technology, innovation, etc.

That was the main content of the "Nghe An-Hong Kong Meeting" conference organized by the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in coordination with the People's Committee of Nghe An province and the Hong Kong (China) Business Association in Vietnam (HKBAV) in Ho Chi Minh City on the afternoon of August 15.

Sharing the economic , trade and investment development situation of Nghe An province, Mr. Phung Thanh Vinh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, said that up to now, Nghe An has attracted 156 registered FDI projects, with a total registered capital of more than 6 billion USD. Hong Kong (China) is the largest FDI investor with 29 projects with a total registered capital of 2 billion USD.

Regarding trade relations, Nghe An's exports to Hong Kong (China) will reach over 201 million USD in 2024 and nearly 189 million USD in the first 6 months of 2025; imports from Hong Kong (China) will reach 261.6 million USD in 2024 and 182 million USD in the first 6 months of this year.

Mr. Phung Thanh Vinh emphasized that Nghe An wishes to attract high-quality investment capital from areas in which Hong Kong (China) has strengths and the province gives high priority, such as: electronics industry, information technology, mechanical engineering and assembly, textiles, innovation, green growth, digital transformation, renewable energy, clean energy, smart cities, healthcare, modern education, etc.

The province focuses on implementing "5 readiness" to serve investors, including readiness in planning; readiness in essential infrastructure; readiness in investment site; readiness in human resources; and readiness to support procedures for investors.

Provincial leaders pledged to continue to strongly improve administrative procedures, improve the investment and business environment, streamline organizational structures, enhance effectiveness and efficiency; accompany and create all favorable conditions for Hong Kong (China) enterprises to invest successfully, sustainably and long-term in Nghe An.

Highly appreciating the province's economic development potential, Mr. Michael Lin, Vice President of the Hong Kong (China) Business Association in Vietnam, said that in the context of the strong trend of shifting production and global supply chains, Nghe An province - with its strategic location, synchronous infrastructure and rich development potential - has become a suitable destination for Hong Kong (China) businesses to seek new opportunities, improve competitiveness and develop sustainably.

According to Mr. Michael Lin, the "Nghe An-Hong Kong Meeting" Conference will contribute to further strengthening cooperation between the Hong Kong (China) business community and Nghe An province, bringing practical economic values ​​and opening up new directions, contributing to further tightening the close relationship between the two sides.

At the conference, Ms. Trinh Thi Mai Phuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Cultural Diplomacy (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) said that in recent years, investment and trade cooperation between Vietnam and Hong Kong (China) has achieved many positive results. Hong Kong (China) is the 5th largest FDI investor in Vietnam, while Vietnam is the 7th largest trade partner of Hong Kong (China).

Highly appreciating the cooperation opportunities between Nghe An province and Hong Kong (China) partners, Ms. Trinh Thi Mai Phuong emphasized that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Cultural Diplomacy as the focal point, will continue to play the role of a bridge, paving the way, supporting the connection between Vietnamese localities and international partners, including Nghe An and Hong Kong (China) investors; committed to continuing to support and accompany the province in implementing foreign affairs and international integration to serve the local development.

At the Conference, leaders of the People's Committee, departments and branches of Nghe An province, representatives of infrastructure businesses in Nghe An province's industrial parks and representatives of the Executive Board of the Hong Kong (China) Business Association in Vietnam, 14 enterprises from Hong Kong and Hong Kong (China) enterprises operating in Vietnam exchanged and learned about investment cooperation information and participated in the business connection program./.
