Delegation of Nghe An province attends the That Luang Vientiane Festival 2025 in Laos

At the invitation of the Vientiane Capital Authority Committee, Lao People's Democratic Republic, on the evening of November 1, a delegation of Nghe An province led by Mr. Phung Thanh Vinh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee attended the That Luong Vientiane Festival 2025 in Vientiane Capital, Lao People's Democratic Republic. Also attending were leaders of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Finance, Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Provincial People's Committee Office.

On the side of the neighboring country, there was the participation of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Lao PDR Government, leaders of central agencies and the capital Vientiane.

That Luang Vientiane Festival is the most important and biggest traditional festival of the Lao people, held annually in November in the capital Vientiane.

The festival includes many cultural and artistic exchange activities, booths displaying, introducing and trading handicraft products, traditional costumes, agricultural products, industrial products... not only from Lao localities but also with the participation of neighboring countries and international sister cities of Laos.

In his opening speech, Comrade Ki-keo Phay-kham-phi-thun - Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister of the Lao PDR emphasized that "That Luang Festival is a sacred symbol, expressing gratitude, solidarity and unity of the Lao ethnic people. 2025 is a year of special historical significance when the Lao Party, State and people celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the 105th anniversary of the birth of President Kaysone Phomvihane and the 50th anniversary of the National Day of the Lao PDR.

This year's festival is not only an occasion to honor national cultural heritage, but also an opportunity to enhance exchanges and strengthen friendly relations between Laos and international friends."

Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Assaphanthoong Siphandon, Member of the Central Executive Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Mayor of Vientiane Capital affirmed: "The That Luang Festival is a traditional beauty, a sacred cultural and spiritual symbol of the Lao people, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity, humanity, hospitality and national pride. 2025 is a year of special significance for the Party and the country of Laos; therefore, organizing this year's Festival is of great value in preserving and promoting national cultural identity and strengthening solidarity between localities across the country as well as international friends".

Within the framework of the program, the delegation of Nghe An province attended the main activities of the festival.

This is the first activity within the framework of the Friendship Cooperation Agreement between Nghe An province and Vientiane capital, signed by the two sides on May 12, 2025, to promote the special friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two localities.

Attending the That Luang Festival 2025 is an important occasion to strengthen the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, while opening up opportunities for trade, tourism, investment and cultural exchange between Nghe An and the capital Vientiane.
