Family tradition of "5 no's, 3 clean's"

Members of the Women's Union of Lang Cang village, Thong Nguyen commune raise savings funds to implement the criteria of no more poor households in the movement to build "5 no, 3 clean" families.

Positive habits

Every month, the women in Lang Cang Village Women's Association, Thong Nguyen Commune, meet once to raise a savings fund. The contribution level depends on each person's circumstances, ranging from 100,000 to 500,000 VND/month. After more than 2 years of operation, the member who saved the most has 10 million VND. The current working fund has more than 40 million VND. All savings are made public, managed, closely monitored, and help members who need to borrow capital for economic development to access preferential interest rates.

Ms. Phan Mui Phin, Lang Cang village shared: “Thanks to the savings fund of my sisters, I have rotated capital to invest in buying seedlings and livestock. In addition to raising native black sows for breeding, commercial chickens and ducks and harvesting 2 hectares of Shan Tuyet tea, during the off-season, my husband and I also do construction work, with a total income of more than 100 million VND/year.”

The Women's Union of Yen Lap village, Yen Thanh commune has selected members who are pioneer party members to carry out the campaign to build "5 no, 3 clean" families as a model, from which to learn from experience and replicate it throughout the village.

Spread good practices

Identifying the movement to build a family of “5 no, 3 clean” as a key task, the Provincial Women’s Union has issued synchronous implementation plans from the provincial to the communal level. With high consensus, 100% of the Union’s grassroots organizations have organized implementation, associated with new rural criteria, with good initiatives that are easy for women to remember and do, typically the model: Model flower road; clean house, beautiful garden; women helping each other with pink bricks; “Happy Family” club.

In the past 15 years, implementing the criteria of no poverty, the Association at all levels has supported 39,783 members to borrow capital from banks with outstanding loans of over 2,999 billion VND for economic development; established 13 cooperatives, 23 cooperative groups, 62 hobby groups; startup ideas; training courses; supported the renovation and repair of 323 houses... helping over 20,000 member households escape poverty. At the same time, hundreds of propaganda sessions were organized for women on the criteria of no violations of the law and social evils; no domestic violence; no malnourished and dropout children; no violations of population policy.

To concretize the content of 3 clean "clean house, clean kitchen, clean alley", the Association at all levels has carried out 600 projects and tasks to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas; guided 1,538 members to build organic waste compost tanks; nearly 27,000 members to dig holes to treat waste; built 2,754 hygienic toilets and bathrooms. Up to now, the whole province has over 98,000 households meeting the criteria of "5 no, 3 clean" families.

Comrade Trieu Thi Tinh, Permanent Vice President of the Provincial Women's Union, said: "In the period of 2026 - 2030, the Union will continue to improve the quality and depth of the campaign to build "5 no, 3 clean" families, closely integrating with programs, projects and plans being implemented at the grassroots level to maximize resources and sustainable effectiveness. Along with that, innovate propaganda forms, promptly discover and commend outstanding individuals and groups, in order to spread good and creative models, arouse the sense of self-reliance of women, especially in ethnic minority areas, remote and border areas".
