Vietnamese delegation works with the Director General of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS)

From April 6 to 9, Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee, together with leaders of Quang Ninh and Bac Giang Provincial People's Committees, participated in the Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Foreign Minister Ngo Le Van to attend the 221st Session of the Executive Board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in France.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the Vietnamese delegation had meetings and worked with Ms. Marie-Laure Lavenir, Director-General of UNESCO; Mr. Xing Qu, Deputy Director-General of UNESCO, and leaders of a number of relevant centers, councils, and committees of UNESCO.

Deputy Foreign Minister Ngo Le Van proposed that UNESCO, the World Heritage Committee, and the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) support Vietnam in its efforts to preserve and promote heritage values, including the dossier of the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son and Kiep Bac Monuments and Landscape Complex to be submitted to UNESCO for recognition as a world heritage site.

The nomination dossier for the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son and Kiep Bac Monuments and Landscape Complex has selected 20 relic clusters/sites out of a total of more than 200 relics in the three provinces of Quang Ninh, Bac Giang, and Hai Duong to be included in the nominated Heritage.
The nomination dossier was jointly completed by the People's Committees of the three provinces and submitted to UNESCO in accordance with the procedures and submitted three additional reports as required by the UNESCO World Heritage Center and ICOMOS. This is the result of the dedication and efforts of the authorities and people of the three provinces of Quang Ninh, Hai Duong, and Bac Giang and the dedicated and responsible contributions of experts and scientists.

Speaking at the meetings and working sessions, Comrade Nguyen Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee, discussed and clarified the outstanding global values ​​of the nominated heritage of Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac Monuments and Landscape Complex; the efforts in building, preserving and promoting the values ​​of the relics of the three provinces of Quang Ninh, Bac Giang and Hai Duong. Comrade Vice Chairman of Hai Duong Provincial People's Committee hoped that the Director General of UNESCO, Deputy Director General of UNESCO, Assistant Director General of UNESCO, leaders of relevant centers, councils, committees and Ambassadors of the World Heritage Committee would pay attention, support and recognize the Complex of Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac Monuments and Landscape Complex as a World Heritage Site.

Leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and leaders of the three provinces of Quang Ninh, Hai Duong, and Bac Giang took souvenir photos with the UNESCO Director-General at the 221st session of the UNESCO Executive Board.

During the working program in France, the delegation came to work with the Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to UNESCO. The leaders of the three provinces thanked the Permanent Delegation of Vietnam to UNESCO for their attention and support in the past time in supporting the three provinces of Quang Ninh, Hai Duong, and Bac Giang in building the nomination dossier and hoped that in the coming time, they would continue to accompany and support the three provinces in successfully protecting the nomination dossier of the Complex of Monuments and Landscapes of Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac.
