The road surface at the beginning of Lo Te Ba Se route is peeling and waterlogged, causing difficulties for traffic participants.
The degraded section of road is about 70m long, right at the traffic light on Lo Te Ba Se route adjacent to National Highway 91. Mr. Phan Duc Nhan, a resident of Binh Lap area, said: “Whether it is sunny or rainy, this section always has standing water on the road surface. There have been cases of drivers falling into potholes right at the standing water, leading to falls. Over the past year, I and the residents of the area have poured 3 trucks of rocks to patch up the road, but after a short time, the road continues to deteriorate.”
Many people in Binh Lap area said that this Lo Te Ba Se route leads to Provincial Road 923, so there are many vehicles participating in traffic. For more than 3 years now, this road has been flooded every time it rains, and when it is sunny, dust flies everywhere. People living on both sides of the road are very miserable. To limit dust from flying into their houses, people have to close their doors, sprinkle water, and cover their houses with cloth. Mr. Phan Duc Nhan said: "My family opened a shop that sells and repairs mobile phones. The road in front of the house is damaged, every time a vehicle passes by, dust flies everywhere, clinging to the house and the goods sold."
According to residents of Binh Hoa A and Binh Lap areas, this road used to be flat and trading was also convenient. However, in the past 3 years, trading has been sluggish because right in front of the house there are always many dirty puddles of stagnant water. Worryingly, the rough rocky road surface with deep holes of stagnant water is likened to "traps" for road users. Mr. Le Thanh Tuan, in Binh Lap area, shared: "Because the water has been stagnant for a long time, when vehicles pass by, dirty water splashes into the house and onto passersby. Many motorbike drivers try to avoid puddles, leading to traffic accidents." Ms. Nguyen Thi Ut Em, living in Binh Hoa A area, was upset: "This road has been degraded and damaged for quite a long time, but the authorities have not repaired or fixed it. I request that the authorities soon invest in a drainage system to limit flooding and ensure safety for road users."
Talking to us, Mr. Tran Quang Chanh, Party Cell Secretary, Head of Binh Hoa A area, said: “From 2024 to now, the area has mobilized the charity team to patch the road surface 3 times. Because the first section of Lo Te Ba Se is part of the project to build, upgrade and expand Provincial Road 923, we only patched and repaired temporarily so that people can travel safely. We request that the authorities promptly implement the construction and completion of the above project so that the road is clear and safe for travel.”
