Businesses want support in innovation, technology transfer and improvement

Technology and machinery serving production in traditional craft villages are still backward.

According to the report of the Department of Science and Technology, in addition to more than 6,000 enterprises, the province currently has 86 craft villages and 57 traditional occupations operating separately with a long history and unique craft skills, positively impacting the revival and development of Hue's traditional occupations. However, the technology and machinery serving production in traditional craft villages in the province are still backward, mainly self-built or discarded machinery imported from other countries.

According to Mr. Nguyen Kim Tung, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology, even the traditional Hue ao dai sewing profession is still done by hand from start to finish without any machinery. Or the cajeput essential oil cooking profession, most establishments still cook manually using iron barrels and wood stoves without using boiler distillation technology. The Pho Trach palm mattress craft village (Phong Binh, Phong Dien) has not yet invested in a palm mattress dryer but still relies on the weather... Because of the use of outdated technology in production, it not only reduces productivity and quality but also pollutes the environment.

The number of enterprises interested in investing in searching and innovating technology is still low, the professional level of workers directly involved in production in enterprises is still low, making it difficult to build a brand to improve competitiveness and expand the market for products and goods, especially promoting exports in the integration process, although in recent years, the local government of the province has always paid attention to supporting enterprises and production facilities in traditional craft villages in Hue through programs such as: Intellectual property development, Productivity and quality, Industrial promotion, One commune one product program, Resolution 22 of the Provincial People's Council stipulating a number of policies to support innovation, technology improvement, technology transfer and intellectual property development in the province in the period of 2021-2030... contributing greatly to the preservation, restoration and development of traditional industries and craft villages.

Besides, some enterprises in the province have actively improved, innovated technology, transferred technology, applied scientific and technical advances in production and business to improve the quality of products and goods.

Many startups need support

Mr. Pham The Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Technology Application and Development, said that to promote and support technological innovation and creative innovation activities in localities, it is necessary to focus on two different subjects. One is to promote innovative start-up activities as being implemented. The other is to pay more attention to supporting and promoting technological innovation and creative innovation activities for enterprises operating in localities at appropriate technological capacity levels.

At the workshop, a number of enterprises, especially start-ups, small, medium and micro enterprises in the province in the fields of production and processing of agricultural specialties, essential oils, nuts, cereal powders, etc., also wanted to find new technologies suitable for their production types. Especially, they wanted support, advice and guidance on investment in technology and factories; access to policies and initial capital sources, etc.

Representatives of some enterprises proposed that state management agencies need to provide training, improve technological level, enhance production capacity and competitiveness in the global value chain, especially determine directions and have specific, practical solutions to help enterprises increasingly adapt to advanced technological levels.
