Mr. Erwin Rusni, assistant coach of the Indonesian men's volleyball team, revealed surprising information about the upcoming SEA V.League squad. Accordingly, they will lose 3 names that participated in the recent AVC Nations Cup.

The players who cannot participate in SEA V.League include middle blocker Muhammad Malizi and two liberos Ruby Rahmanto and Hendrik Angel. Mr. Erwin Rusni said that these athletes have not met the professional standards, so the Indonesian volleyball team is forced to make changes.

However, in addition to performance, there is another reason that is difficult to explain why the team's strength is disrupted. Specifically, Malizi and Rahmanto were summoned by the Indonesian Navy to compete in the military tournament called Panglima Cup. That is the reason why they had to miss this year's SEA V.League.

In order to strengthen the team, the coaching staff of the Indonesian men's volleyball team has called up two additional liberos, Irpan and Prasojo. Meanwhile, in the middle blocker position, the name being discussed is Indra Augustin.

At the Asian-level tournament AVC Nations Cup that ended not long ago, Indonesia finished 6th. Although they were the highest-ranked Southeast Asian team, the country's volleyball federation still expressed dissatisfaction.

Their goal in the upcoming SEA V.League is nothing but the championship. Assistant coach Erwin Rusni shared with the press: "Through what we have shown at the AVC Nations Cup, we agree that there must be changes. In particular, the role of the liberos is not good, so we need new faces. Hopefully this change will bring positive signs."

SEA V.League is a Southeast Asian volleyball tournament, launched in 2019 with a women's tournament divided into phase 1 and phase 2. By 2023, SEA V.League expanded to a tournament for men's teams. Indonesia was the champion that year, while Thailand won the title in 2024.

The first phase of the men's tournament will take place from July 9 to 13 in the Philippines. This year, along with Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines, Cambodia will compete in the SEA V.League for the first time.

In last year's tournament, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team disappointed with losses in both stages. Therefore, coach Tran Dinh Tien's team really wants to improve their performance in this year's tournament.
