Can Tho : A dynamic center with 7 projects worth nearly 9,700 billion VND.

In Can Tho City – the driving force of the Mekong Delta region – seven projects and works were started and inaugurated with a total investment of approximately 9,700 billion VND.

Of these, 3 projects are eligible for inauguration: the East-West Economic Development Axis road (formerly in Soc Trang province); Hong Loan social housing apartment complex; and Cara River Park apartment complex. These projects contribute to completing transportation infrastructure, supplementing housing supply, and improving urban quality.

In addition, four projects were commenced: Wind Power Plant No. 7 Phase 2; the Nguyen Chi Thanh bridge and road projects (Vi Thanh ward); Hong Loan social housing complex; and An Phu Eco City apartment complex. These are all projects of significant importance for the development of clean energy, transportation connectivity, and social welfare.

Notably, the Phase 2 of Wind Power Plant No. 7 in Vinh Hai commune (Can Tho City) has an installed capacity of approximately 89.3 MW and an average annual electricity output of 271,198 MWh/year. The project has a total investment of VND 3,728 billion, with ST2 Energy Joint Stock Company as the investor. It contributes to supplementing the national power grid, reducing the risk of electricity shortages, and serving the socio-economic development of the region.

Vinh Long: Removing traffic bottlenecks, enhancing regional connectivity.

In Vinh Long province, three important projects are being implemented, with two projects having commenced construction and one project having been inaugurated.

Notably, the Dinh Khao bridge project, connecting the two banks of Vinh Long and Ben Tre (formerly), has a total investment of over 2,852 billion VND and is implemented under the PPP (Public-Private Partnership) model. The project is over 4 km long, with the main bridge over the Co Chien River designed with 4 lanes and an operating speed of 80 km/h, connecting from Provincial Road 902 (Nhon Phu commune) to National Highway 57.

Upon completion, the Dinh Khao bridge will replace the existing ferry, fundamentally resolving traffic congestion, shortening the time for transporting goods and passengers, and strengthening economic links between Vinh Long and other provinces in the region.

In addition, Vinh Long province also commenced a social housing project in the administrative and residential area of Long Chau ward and inaugurated the infrastructure project of Phu Thuan Industrial Park, creating more room to attract investment and develop industry.

An Giang: 4 projects worth 9,000 billion VND to complete urban infrastructure for APEC 2027.

In An Giang province, with the main venue located in the Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone, Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang and representatives from various ministries, departments, and localities held a groundbreaking ceremony for the first phase of the urban metro line project, invested by Sun Group, along with three other important projects: Duong Dong 2 reservoir; Cua Can resettlement area; and Ham Ninh resettlement area. These projects are of strategic significance, contributing to the completion of urban infrastructure, ensuring social welfare, and improving the quality of life for the people.

Accordingly, Sun Group Corporation held a groundbreaking ceremony for a nearly 9,000 billion VND urban rail line in Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone, An Giang province, marking Vietnam's first Light Rail Transit (LRT) line in Phu Quoc.

In addition, the province also held a technical opening ceremony for phase 1 of the Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang expressway project at the intersection with provincial road 941 (Vinh An commune), and simultaneously commenced the construction of a protective roof system for archaeological pits at the Oc Eo – Ba The historical site (Oc Eo commune). These projects not only serve economic development but also contribute to preserving and honoring the unique historical and cultural values of the Southern region.

Ca Mau and Dong Thap: Completing the inter-regional transportation network.

In Ca Mau province, two projects have been launched: the outer ring road and the inner ring road of Bac Lieu city (formerly) - phase 1. Upon completion, these roads will reduce traffic pressure in the inner city area, expand urban development space, and improve inter-regional transportation connectivity.

Meanwhile, Dong Thap province is implementing two key projects: the project to upgrade National Highway 30, the Cao Lanh – Hong Nguy section (phase 3), and the project to preserve, restore, and promote the value of the Nguyen Sinh Sac historical site.

The National Highway 30 upgrade project has a total investment of over 912 billion VND, a length of approximately 14.5 km, and is being built to Class II road standards. The entire National Highway 30 route, across three phases, has a total investment of over 2,500 billion VND, a length of nearly 120 km, and plays a vital role as a transportation artery connecting localities in the Mekong Delta region.

Specifically, the project to preserve, restore, and promote the value of the Nguyen Sinh Sac historical site has a total investment of approximately 145 billion VND, with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dong Thap province as the investor; of which the central government allocates about 111 billion VND, and the remaining about 33 billion VND comes from the local budget.

The simultaneous groundbreaking and inauguration of 20 key projects on the same day not only demonstrates the decisive involvement of the central government and local authorities, but also opens up great expectations for a new phase of development for the Mekong Delta. Improved infrastructure and strengthened regional connectivity will be crucial foundations for the "land of nine dragons" to break through and develop more rapidly and sustainably in the future.
