"First visitor" of Tan Son Nhat T3 terminal

At 5:55 a.m. yesterday (April 17), the T3 passenger terminal of Tan Son Nhat International Airport, a project that has been awaited for many years to reduce the load on Tan Son Nhat Airport, officially and successfully operated its first real test flight. On flight number VN1286 of Vietnam Airlines from Ho Chi Minh City to Van Don (Quang Ninh), 105 passengers had an impressive experience with the modern infrastructure, service quality and quick check-in procedures without documents, applied for the first time in Vietnam.

In the opposite direction, flight VN1287 from Van Don to Ho Chi Minh City also brought 114 passengers from the North to the South to "break ground" at the new terminal. Not only were they the first to use the services at the largest and most modern terminal in the country, but the passengers arriving in Ho Chi Minh City on this flight were also welcomed and given souvenirs by Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

Immediately afterwards, many positive responses were recorded. All expressed surprise at the spacious, airy space; the check-in areas were scientifically arranged, making it easy and quick to move. Passenger Tran Thi Huong shared: "I have a good impression of the clear and easy-to-follow electronic flight information system, the check-in counters and security screening areas are professionally organized, minimizing waiting time. With modern facilities like this, I believe other passengers will also feel much more comfortable and satisfied when arriving and departing from Tan Son Nhat. This year, Ho Chi Minh City is jubilantly welcoming the "grand festival" right from the gateway".

According to the representative of Tan Son Nhat International Airport, the actual flight test at Terminal T3 showed that the entire system of equipment, aviation service lines, and coordination between units at the terminal are operating stably, improving service quality, ensuring security and safety, and ready to serve flights in the coming time. The above results are the basis for state management agencies to grant official operating licenses tomorrow (April 19), inaugurating Terminal T3 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of national reunification.

Directly connected to T3 station, the 6-lane road connecting Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa has been paved with clean asphalt for more than 4 km, ready for the opening day to bring passengers to the new station. The overpass project has a length of 988 m, with a modern design, starting from the road connecting Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa, crossing 18E street and ending at Hoang Hoa Tham intersection, has been revealed. The highlight of the project is a separate branch leading directly to T3 station, not only helping vehicles to circulate quickly, limiting traffic congestion during rush hour, but also increasing aesthetics, along with the new station lighting up at night.

"Command" of 3 regions North - Central - South

On the morning of April 19, the groundbreaking and inauguration ceremonies of key national projects and major works to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the country's reunification will take place simultaneously in all three regions of the North, Central and South. Previously, the Prime Minister requested ministries, branches and 63 localities nationwide to register projects to start construction, inaugurate, and open technical traffic... It is expected that about 100 projects will start construction and inaugurate simultaneously according to the general command, as a special milestone to celebrate the country's great holiday.

Of which, the Ministry of Construction alone will have 7 projects/component projects expected to be completed, including Terminal T3 of Tan Son Nhat International Airport (HCMC); the completion of Rach Mieu 2 Bridge in Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces; more than 18 km of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway project (in HCMC and Long An) opening to technical traffic, and 4 component projects of the North - South Expressway phase 2. These four projects include 2 projects: Bai Vot - Ham Nghi Expressway, 35.2 km long, Ham Nghi - Vung Ang Expressway, 54.2 km long in Ha Tinh; Bung - Van Ninh Expressway, 48.8 km long in Quang Binh, and Van Phong - Nha Trang Expressway, 83.3 km long (70.35 km put into use on April 19) in Khanh Hoa.

In Ho Chi Minh City, hundreds of households along Duong Quang Ham Street (Go Vap District) are excitedly decorating their houses and yards to prepare for the grand festival and the new, spacious road. The project to expand and upgrade Duong Quang Ham Street (from Binh Thanh District to Cultural Park) is rushing to complete the final stages to officially inaugurate on April 30. After 6 years of sluggish construction due to land issues affecting people's lives, Duong Quang Ham Street, once completed, will become an important traffic axis of Go Vap District, contributing to reducing pressure on neighboring roads such as Phan Van Tri, Nguyen Thai Son, and Le Duc Tho.

In addition, on this occasion, Ho Chi Minh City will open 760m of HC1-01 underpass at An Phu intersection, directly connecting the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway with Mai Chi Tho street (the Saigon River tunnel); complete the first kilometers of Ring Road 3, connecting with Nhon Trach bridge and Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway, helping to significantly shorten the distance from Thu Duc City to Nhon Trach District (Dong Nai), opening up a more convenient route between Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring areas. Along with the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway section that was put into operation earlier this year, people from Dong Nai, Long An, Ba Ria-Vung Tau can conveniently travel to Ho Chi Minh City to watch the first military parade after 50 years of national reunification along with a series of other unique cultural and artistic programs.

Start construction simultaneously

On the same day of the inauguration of the most modern passenger terminal in the country, Ho Chi Minh City residents also witnessed a historic moment: the groundbreaking ceremony for the Can Gio sea-encroaching urban area. The project has a planned area of about 2,870 hectares, and is expected to turn Can Gio into a tourist, resort, and investment destination that is competitive enough with sea-encroaching areas in the world such as Singapore, Miami (USA), Australia, etc. Along with that, Ho Chi Minh City is aiming to start the construction of the Can Gio bridge worth more than VND11,000 billion and the Can Gio international transit super port worth nearly USD5 billion.

Similarly, Thu Thiem 4 bridge connecting Tan Thuan 2 bridge intersection - Nguyen Van Linh (District 7) to the North-South axis intersection - Bui Thien Ngo street (Thu Thiem new urban area) is also waiting for the Nha Rong - Khanh Hoi port planning update in the Ho Chi Minh City master plan adjustment project to 2040, vision 2060 to submit for approval of the pre-feasibility study report. The Department of Transport plans to start construction of Thu Thiem 4 bridge in 2025 and complete it in 2028.

Along with the Saigon River overpass that just started construction at the end of last month, Can Gio Bridge and Thu Thiem 4 Bridge, if they follow the plan and start construction this year, will mark an important milestone in the development journey of Ho Chi Minh City. Because the bridges across the Saigon River, connecting with Thu Duc City, with the Can Gio growth pole, will not only help expand the space of the core urban area of Ho Chi Minh City but will also become new symbols of the city, connecting the past, present and future.

Across the country, a series of projects in many fields have been registered to start construction and break ground by provinces and cities. The People's Committee of Ca Mau province registered to hand over the site and break ground for the project to expand and upgrade Ca Mau Airport with a total investment of about 2,400 billion VND (excluding site clearance costs), invested by Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV). At the same time, the existing passenger terminal will be renovated and expanded to a capacity of 500,000 passengers/year, and can be expanded to ensure the exploitation of 1 million passengers/year when needed. The province also registered to start construction of the Ca Mau General Hospital; opened the technical traffic of the component project to invest in the construction of Ganh Hao Bridge...

Long An province said it will start construction of urban area and industrial park projects; inaugurate a factory producing accessories and spare parts for the automobile industry; open the provincial road connecting Long An - Ho Chi Minh City... Ba Ria-Vung Tau also registered to open the technical traffic of the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway component project, phase 1; start construction of the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway connection project; inaugurate the coastal route DT 994 component project... Binh Phuoc and Dak Nong also plan to start construction of component projects of the North - South expressway investment project, west section, Chon Thanh - Gia Nghia to celebrate the grand ceremony. The important project of the Central Highlands region is 128.8 km long, the first phase is designed with 4 lanes, expected speed of 100 - 120 km/h, total investment of about 25,500 billion VND.

According to the original plan, Can Gio Bridge was expected to start construction on the occasion of April 30, but because the city's master plan until 2040, with a vision to 2060, has not been approved, the project does not have enough basis to submit to the City People's Council for consideration of investment policy. After the city's master plan is approved, the Department of Transport said it will complete the documents and submit them to the competent authority for approval of the pre-feasibility study report and start construction of the project this year, completing it in 2028.
