After more than 4 years of implementing the "One Commune One Product" (OCOP) Program, Dong Son Commune (Tam Diep City) currently has 7 provincial-level OCOP products ranked 4 stars, leading the province in the number of OCOP products. This result is a solid foundation for Dong Son Commune to strive to achieve advanced new rural standards by 2024.
Established in 2020, Tao Viet High-Tech Agricultural Cooperative is currently providing the market with quality Vietnamese algae products. Including pure Spirulina in tablet form and fresh Spirulina that meets 4-star OCOP standards.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Dung, Head of the pilot production project "Application of science and technology to perfect the process of breeding, cultivating, harvesting biomass, and processing Spirulina algae in Tam Diep city" said: Realizing that Spirulina algae is a healthy food such as: supporting digestion, regulating blood pressure, ... but Vietnamese people do not know much about it. On the other hand, for those who need this type of product, they have to buy imported goods from abroad at high prices, and it is difficult to control the quality. In order to meet the increasing demand of people, after a period of operation, Tao Viet high-tech agricultural cooperative is determined to expand its scale, launching quality products to serve Vietnamese consumers at reasonable prices. Currently, the cooperative has 2 algae cultivation areas, gradually meeting the needs of the market.
With a closed production process from farming to creating products, up to now, Tao Viet Cooperative has produced products from Spirulina algae, including: pure fresh algae, dried algae powder, pressed dried algae tablets, honey Spirulina algae, and algae for facial masks. In addition to cultivating spirulina and processing finished products to supply the market, Tao Viet High-Tech Agricultural Cooperative is also a place to supply seeds to many other farming facilities in the country, especially this cooperative is the only place in the North that can cultivate spirulina in winter. The cooperative is creating jobs for many local workers with a salary of 6,000,000 VND/person/month. It is known that the cooperative has begun to transfer algae farming technology so that many people can learn and develop the economy .
Also in Dong Son commune, Dong Son medicinal herbs cooperative has many years of experience specializing in the production of medicinal herbs such as cajuput essential oil. In particular, since participating in the OCOP program, the quality of the cooperative's products has been increasingly improved and has been recognized as a 4-star OCOP product, gradually affirming its solid position in the market, creating jobs and income for local people.
By working while researching and innovating technology, Dong Son Medicinal Cooperative has so far provided the market with a variety of rich and diverse products such as: cajuput essential oils, herbal shampoos, herbal conditioners, tea tree bath soaps, tea tree facial cleansers, and cajuput balms. Among the products of the Cooperative, in 2020, cajuput essential oil was recognized as a typical rural product, and in 2022, it was recognized as a 4-star OCOP product at the provincial level.
Talking to us, Mr. Dinh Van Sy, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Dong Son commune said: In 2019, Dong Son commune started implementing the "One Commune One Product" Program. When it first started, there were many difficulties. After a period of research, we realized that participating in the development of OCOP products will increase the value of products, expand the scale of production and consumption market. At the same time, the goal of the Program is to develop OCOP products to unleash the potential and advantages of rural areas, increase people's income; continue to restructure the agricultural sector associated with the development of small-scale industries, occupations, services and rural tourism , contributing to the construction of new rural areas in depth, effectively and sustainably.
After more than 4 years of implementing the OCOP Program, Dong Son commune has achieved positive results, having an important impact on the results of building sustainable new rural areas and increasing the value of local agricultural products. OCOP products have contributed to effectively implementing the criteria group "Economy and production organization" in the National Criteria for New Rural Communes. The OCOP Program has created a fair and transparent playing field, creating competition among producers, while encouraging community participation, exploiting, maintaining and promoting potential values, and developing typical local products.
Up to now, Dong Son commune has 7 4-star OCOP products including: An Nguyen tea products (2 products); Fresh Spirulina and pure Spirulina; Phuong Linh crispy rice; Community tourism; Cajeput essential oil.
Mr. Dinh Van Sy, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Dong Son Commune, added: To facilitate the subjects participating in the "One Commune One Product" Program, we have guided them through the procedures, introduced the products, etc. Thereby contributing to helping the subjects develop production, business, create jobs and improve income for local workers, creating a spread for the program to be implemented more strongly in the coming time. Currently, on average, each facility with OCOP products is creating jobs for 5-7 workers with a salary of 5-7 million VND/person/month. In 2022, the average income per capita of the commune will reach nearly 60 million VND/person/year.
Realizing the values of the OCOP Program, in order to gradually develop OCOP products in depth, effectively and sustainably, creating new momentum to successfully implement the advanced new rural construction program, Dong Son commune is continuing to pay attention to propaganda to raise awareness for cadres, party members and people about the purpose, meaning and importance of the OCOP Program to spread strongly in the social community. Actively support subjects on documents, procedures and related issues to help subjects be more confident when participating in the OCOP program.
At the same time, continue to focus on creating conditions for entities in product promotion and marketing activities, prioritizing the expansion of land for production. In 2023, Dong Son commune plans to build 6-7 more OCOP products such as: Green tea pork, herbal chicken, peach wine, pickled peach wine, spirulina nutritional powder, etc.
