The work is an epic about the Truong Son oil pipeline soldiers - a silent, brave force that contributed to the miracle in the resistance war against the US to save the country.
With practical experience as an engineer directly designing and constructing the legendary pipeline, Major General Ho Sy Hau vividly recreated the journey of placing the first pipes through the "fire triangle" Vinh - Nam Dan - Linh Cam from 1968 until the day of total victory on April 30, 1975.
The oil pipeline is likened to a “river of fire”, just by being hit by a bomb fragment it can burn fiercely, but it still steadfastly overcomes high mountains, deep forests, and rains of bombs and bullets to deliver fuel to the battlefields of the South. Commander Dong Si Nguyen once affirmed: “If the Truong Son road is a legend, the oil pipeline is a legend within that legend”.

The novel depicts silent battles and heroic sacrifices, in which the character Dinh stands out – the prototype of Sergeant Nguyen Luong Dinh, who was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces.
The work won the B Prize - Award for writing and promoting the armed forces and revolutionary war awarded by the Ministry of National Defense for the period 2009 - 2014. First released in 2012, The River Brings Fire received a warm welcome from readers, especially Truong Son veterans. This reprint aims to meet the expectations of a large number of readers, especially the younger generation, contributing to spreading the message of gratitude and educating the tradition of patriotism.
At the introduction, Lieutenant General Phung Khac Dang emotionally shared: “Ho Sy Hau writes from his heart and soul. He not only writes about the oil and gas soldiers but also depicts a bright part of the tradition of Uncle Ho's soldiers.”

Poet Huu Thinh highly appreciated the work as an important contribution to revolutionary literature, honoring intelligence, science and technology in building the army and filling the literary gap about pipeline soldiers. According to him, The River of Fire is not only a historical novel but also has profound educational value, fostering patriotism for today's generation.
