According to the Decision, livestock density is determined based on the total number of livestock units per hectare of agricultural land. The land area used as the basis for calculation includes the entire agricultural land area as stipulated by land law.
Notably, the province has stipulated a maximum livestock density of 1.2 livestock units per hectare of agricultural land by 2030. Based on this, each commune and ward will be assigned a specific density level, appropriate to its production conditions, ecological environment, and land use planning.
The allocation of livestock density across different areas aims to control the scale of livestock herds, reduce pressure on the environment, limit pollution and disease outbreaks, and create conditions for the development of the livestock industry in a safe, efficient, and sustainable manner.
The decision also assigns the Department of Agriculture and Environment the responsibility of monitoring, guiding, and inspecting the implementation; and coordinating with localities to advise on adjusting livestock density when necessary. The People's Committees of communes and wards are responsible for organizing the implementation, strictly managing livestock activities, and severely punishing violations according to regulations.
This decision takes effect from May 15, 2026, and applies to organizations and individuals involved in livestock farming activities in Dong Thap province.
The issuance of regulations on livestock density is an important basis for Dong Thap province to restructure its agricultural sector and develop livestock farming in a modern direction, in harmony with the environment and adapting to practical conditions in the future.
