Dong Thap: Memorial service and burial of 43 martyrs' remains held

On July 25, the Party Committee, government and people of Dong Thap province solemnly held a memorial service and buried the remains of heroic martyrs who died in Cambodia.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan, Vice Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee, on behalf of the provincial leaders, expressed his deep gratitude to the Government , the Royal Cambodian Army, the authorities and people of the provinces of Pray Veng and Pua Sat of the Kingdom of Cambodia. "Today, the Party Committee and people of Dong Thap solemnly organized the memorial service and burial of 43 sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died during the war in the Kingdom of Cambodia and in the country. However, due to the prolonged and fierce war conditions, we have not yet determined the names, ages, and hometowns of the 41 sets of remains of the comrades brought back to the Fatherland this time; however, wherever their hometowns are, we hope that the souls of the comrades will consider their homeland Dong Thap as a good land to rest in peace. The Party Committee and people of Dong Thap, on behalf of the people of the whole country, pledge to take care of and preserve the graves of the comrades," Mr. Huynh Minh Tuan shared in the eulogy.

Vice Chairman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee Huynh Minh Tuan pledged that the Party Committee, government and people of Dong Thap province are determined to turn grief into action, determined to realize the ambitions of the martyrs during their lifetime, and continue to strive to protect and build the country to become more and more prosperous.

Comrade Le Quoc Phong, Secretary of Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee, together with cadres, soldiers and youth volunteers, buried the remains of heroic martyrs.

According to Team K91 under the Military Command of Dong Thap province, with the enthusiastic support of the Specialized Committee, authorities at all levels, armed forces and people of Pray Veng and Pua Sat provinces, during the dry season of 2024 - 2025, Team K91 found 43 sets of martyrs' remains (of which, 41 sets were found in Pray Veng and Pua Sat provinces, 2 sets were found in the country).

Comrade Chau Thi My Phuong, Chairwoman of Dong Thap Provincial People's Council, along with cadres, soldiers and youth volunteers, buried the remains of heroic martyrs.

Team K91 will continue to focus on doing a good job of coordination, promoting the survey, collection and processing of information on martyrs' remains; organizing excavations in areas with new information and continuing to dig at old locations where martyrs' remains have not been found to have specific conclusions; not leaving out any information.
