On March 23, sources from Thanh Nien newspaper confirmed that the Criminal Investigation Agency of Thu Duc City Police (Ho Chi Minh City) is temporarily detaining suspect Tao Van Duc (35 years old, from Thanh Hoa province) to investigate and clarify his involvement in theft.
The house that was broken into is located in the Thien Ly residential area.
Previously, on March 19th, after returning home from work, the owner of a house in Thien Ly residential area (Phuoc Long B Ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City) discovered signs of a break-in. Upon checking the belongings inside the house, the homeowner was shocked to find that the safe had been pried open and many valuables, including gold and cash, totaling approximately 500 million VND, had been stolen.
The incident was quickly reported to the Phuoc Long B Police Station by the homeowner. Immediately, the Phuoc Long B Police Station, in coordination with other professional units of the Thu Duc City Police, launched an investigation and apprehended the suspect, Tao Van Duc (35 years old, from Thanh Hoa province).
At the police station, Duc confessed that in the early morning of March 19th, taking advantage of the homeowner's absence, he broke into the house and stole the aforementioned property before escaping.
The police are continuing to investigate the case of the burglary where a safe was broken into and valuables were stolen.
