Infrastructure breakthroughs - Aspiration for greater heights.

Việt NamViệt Nam27/04/2025

Ca Mau Newspaper Mr. Nguyen Duc Thanh, Director of the Department of Finance, said that in planning and budget registration with the Central Government, as well as in allocating investment from local sources, the province always pays attention to and prioritizes infrastructure development, especially transportation infrastructure. "This is the core issue to remove bottlenecks that have existed for quite some time in a province far from the country's major economic centers, creating momentum for development so that Ca Mau will not be the southernmost point of the country, but the southernmost point," Mr. Nguyen Duc Thanh shared.

Not stopping there, with strong determination, Ca Mau is pursuing a breakthrough development towards the sea with ambitions to transform this southernmost region into the "southernmost continent," from building a sea bridge to Hon Khoai, constructing a deep-water integrated seaport on Hon Khoai; opening a highway all the way to Dat Mui; upgrading and expanding National Highway 1 and the Ho Chi Minh Highway. "Not only is there seamless and smooth connectivity on land and out to sea, but the aspiration to take Ca Mau soaring high and far is gradually becoming a reality, making this land a destination for investors and an export center of the region. This is thanks to the upgraded and expanded Ca Mau Airport project," proudly informed the Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Pham Thanh Ngai.

Fifty years ago, in the period following liberation, the revolutionary land of Ca Mau had nothing but forests and a network of rivers and canals. The economy relied entirely on low-quality agriculture, with saline soil and acidic land everywhere. However, with the dedication, collective effort, and unwavering loyalty of generations of its people, Ca Mau has now risen strongly, becoming beautiful and prosperous. Breakthroughs in transportation infrastructure, both past and ongoing, will enable Ca Mau to catch up with the rest of the country and enter a new era – an era of national progress.

Over the years, in response to the demands of development during the period of reform and integration, and with investment capital from the central government, Ca Mau province has consistently allocated a large portion of its surplus revenue and savings to invest in the development of interconnected infrastructure, creating a comprehensive road transport network and building a foundation and impetus for rapid and sustainable development.

The intersection between the National Highway 1 bypass and the Dam Doi - Ca Mau City road opens up opportunities for urban development in the areas surrounding Ca Mau City.

The Ca Mau Airport upgrade and expansion project has completed land handover. The project, invested by the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), has a total capital of approximately VND 2,400 billion, using 100% of ACV's equity, aiming to ensure the operation of A320, A321 and equivalent aircraft; to create momentum for economic, cultural, and social development, while also ensuring national security and defense for Ca Mau province and the region.

With the aspiration to expand into the sea and prosper from it, in 2025, a bridge to Hon Khoai Island will be built, along with the construction of a deep-water integrated seaport on Hon Khoai Island, connecting to the expressway, contributing to making Ca Mau a regional export hub.
