The lowest relative humidity will commonly be between 40 and 45%. The hottest hours are forecast to be from 9 AM to 7 PM.

Warning of record-breaking heatwave reaching 42 degrees Celsius in June.

The National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting notes that the temperature forecast in heatwave bulletins and the actual perceived temperature outdoors may differ by 2-4 degrees Celsius, or even more, depending on the surface conditions such as concrete or asphalt.

Is the intense heat related to El Nino?

Mr. Nguyen Van Huong, Head of the Weather Forecasting Department at the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting, advises that during days with warnings of intense or extremely intense heat, people should limit direct exposure to the heat between 11 AM and 4 PM.

To ensure good health, people should proactively drink enough water, not wait until they are thirsty; use sun protection when going outside and avoid sudden temperature changes between outdoors and air-conditioned rooms.

Outdoor workers need to manage their time effectively, increase breaks between shifts, and monitor for symptoms such as fatigue, dizziness, and headaches to promptly address the risk of heatstroke or heat exhaustion. Families should pay special attention to young children, the elderly, and those with underlying health conditions, as these groups are most vulnerable during prolonged heatwaves.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Huong, El Nino has only recently appeared and has not yet impacted Vietnam's weather. The cause of this heatwave is the influence of a hot low-pressure system and the Foehn wind.

Due to the impact of El Nino, from now until August, temperatures across the country will tend to be 0.5 - 1.0 degrees Celsius higher than the multi-year average, meaning summer temperatures will be higher than the multi-year average, and the number of hot days and heatwaves will also be higher than in 2025, exceeding the multi-year average.

"According to the June weather forecast, we anticipate 2-3 heatwaves, with temperatures potentially reaching 37-39 degrees Celsius, and especially in some mountainous areas in the west, from Thanh Hoa to Hue City, reaching 41-42 degrees Celsius," Mr. Huong said.
